So if I get the BT version, I just need a free version of Forscan for my smartphone or pc, and then I can "Say" add the sony package HD FM Tuner to my XLT?

I would check the Forscan thread. But if its anything like IDS, I did not see a sony option.

Id just like to add the HD Tuner, which only comes in sony stereo package. I dont want the ****ty sony stereo, just the HD Tuner/cd player.

Wait. You can use wifi with Forscan? I thought it had to be BT. Did I misunderstand? hope so as the laptop I'd like to use has wifi but no BT .

you need an obd2 adapter for forscan. You can buy a bluetooth one or a wifi one. You will still need the obd2 adapter! btw a bluetooth adapter dongle for a laptop is dirtchip...try like under $5

Maybe it was my iPhone, but the wifi version would not maintain a connection. I settled on a cheap USB version since the only reason I would want wireless would be to use with my phone, and Bluetooth isn't compatible either.
