Now that we have CarPlay, what do you think?
I updated my truck a week ago to the latest Sync and USB module to get CarPlay. Now that I've been using it, my impression is "meh".
I was excited to see the iPhone icons in my 8 inch touchscreen. But that novelty has already worn off.
I do like the music controls compared to just using Bluetooth. However, the maps in CarPlay is frustrating. Quite often, the map stops scrolling and the icon representing my truck disappears off the screen. I have to hit the location button again to get it back. This happens several times during any given trip.
I'd like to be able to have CarPlay running and still have access to Sync navigation, but that is not possible. I can have Sync nav but then I lose CarPlay. It's one or the other.
Messages function is okay, but I don't use it much.
So, after using it for a while, I'm back to just using my Bluetooth connection to my iPhone and Sync as before. Still, it's cool to finally have the ability to use CarPlay.

I have Android Auto which is basically the same concept, different platform. I absolutely LOVE it.
"Ok Google."
*ba-doop!*
"How many truck accessory stores are nearby?"
....
*Here are some listings for truck accessory stores within eleven kilometers!*
(shows all listings in Google Maps on MFT)

FYI the upgraded hub is only necessary for Apple CarPlay. If you have an Android you're already good to go.

Lovin it.
Personally I have had zero issues.
The interaction with Siri versus sync for navigation or making calls or sending text messages so far has been flawless.
I had SYNC in my 2014 and continually stated I hated it.... Carplay SYNC 3 lovin it so far. It has even got me back to listening to podcast as its well on the screen verus "touching my phone" and driving
