The traction control in my 2016 Lariat works remarkably well that I do not miss have an LSD or Locker. The 4A setting is awesome as well. Seems to me your IWE's are toast and 4WD isn't engaging the front axles.

I was under the impression that the front differential was a locker? it certainly acts like one when i'm driving around my deer lease and I chatter the front wheels when turning.....

The transfer case is 2 speed (thus the 4h and 4l), 4l has a much higher crawl ratio and better torque application.

It seems like you may have an issue with your 4x4 system, maybe the front actuators are not actually engaging the hubs? Or maybe the e-locker is not working correctly?

The chattering is the driveline binding from the front and rear tires trying to do different speeds in 4WD. Front diff is an open differential.

That's why 4Auto is so awesome, you can drive on dry pavement if needed with no concern of driveline binding.

1) Not sure about your other situations, but in this exact situation the one-wheel spin control (whatever its called) should be applying the brakes to the spinning tire and then both tires will spin. This system is designed to 'mimic' a mechanical limited slip differential.......I have done it and it will light up both tires. Sounds like something is wrong.

2) 4A should not be making any banging sounds in that situation. Sounds like something is wrong.

Read all of this. You need to start using your locker a lot more apparently. Each of those situations could probably have been solved by engaging it.

you have something wrong with your 4wd system. you should be able to engage it and have it work like a dream. I use mine once a month just for exercise in scenarios that are many times times worse than what you describe.

Exactly.... use mine all the time with ZERO issues in deep snow and mud.... Something must be wrong with that system as there shouldn't be any banging noises imo.......

You said you were using 4A while trying to make a sharp turn. If I'm not mistaken, 4A disengages the drive clutch to the front axle when the steering goes past a certain point to prevent binding. I would guess 4H would have pulled right up it.

Aside form all of the Fordsplaining going on, the banging noise (he said bang not chatter) seems like a sign of something wrong. Find a similar hill by your dealership and take the service manager for a ride. Bang the crap out of it and see if he/she tries to say it's normal. Pull off the road to a slippery shoulder and get stuck. Getting stuck on the side of the road like that would be one of those class action lawsuit items. Ford's newer designs have real problems but yours seems unusual.
