Happy to join the family!!! After my nieces 6 month checkup at the hospital, they hang a plaque on this huge wall with all living donors, date of donation and a few things my wife and I will add if allowed.
My friend Eric donated his kidney to his sister 15 years ago, drove 6 hours from his home to surprise me in the hospital.
If things continue to go well, I will get on the transplant list for a pancreas in 3 months. Been type 1 diabetic for 49 years in July. I've already passed all the tests, just need to make sure my new kidney is functioning healthy still, then I get added.

Edit: Here is a pic of that wall with all the donors. I think 2018 was a record year for them, something like 214 live donors!

Congratulations! I received my kidney transplant 13 years ago last November. Quite a new lease on life.
