2.7l mpg.... Ugh..
So for Spring Break - took a 400 mile trip... doing 80, 4 people in the truck and light luggage. Realize that doing 80 really hits your MPG.. I was expecting 19 vs. the 26 posted on the EPA estimates (again knowing that those are based on 55 mph)... Got a whopping 13 MPG!!!! wow... computer showed 16 too!
I average 20 usually in an average week commuting - really haven't been close to the EPA figures... I'm sure whatever i'm getting are better than the 3.5 or the 5.0?? but are they?
I didn't buy a full size truck to get great gas mileage.. just would never expect 13!

Any engine is working hard at those speeds, especially in a truck with the aerodynamics of a brick. The little 2.7 trying to motivate that brick is going to work even harder = poor MPG.

true - but 325 HP and 375 torque isn't that "little" ya know? same as the old V8's had.. and lighter... just expected a little better!
Still love the truck though..

Seems like deviations (load, speed, tires) have quite an effect on the 2.7. Slow down and ditch the friends/family with their luggage and I think it would be much better
Running a trip in January from Memphis to New Orleans anywhere from 70-80 my 13' 5.0 got 17 MPG. That's with 275/65/20 tires and aftermarket wheels.

To get those HP and TQ numbers this little engine has to spin up the snails. Those are some thirsty snails. Keep it out of boost and your MPG will go up. To do that, don't do 80.
