Hi, Loaner vehicles are part of the ESP plans, not with your basic warranty. My truck has been in the shop for almost two weeks. I have two more vehicles at home so I don't need, or want to deal with, a loaner car. If this makes you want to switch brands, go for it. The last Ford dealer that I worked at took in over one hundred cars a day in their service dept; Do know what it would take to give everyone a loaner?

Same thing , I'll just drive my wife's car if need be.

The Dodge dealership , has 18 loaner vehicles they're the Chrysler 200 cars.

It is completely dealer specific. Ford doesn't pony up free loaners - but the dealership sure can if it wants to.

Case in point: The dealer I bought my Explorer from - no free loaners but a free shuttle within 30 minutes or so. (and they also sell Chevy, Dodge, and Jeep - same deal) The dealer I bought my F150 from does have free loaners (if available) and has bent over backwards when I needed a lift at my last service - the service manager gave me a ride in his own personal vehicle... (and they sell GM, Dodge, etc too, same deal...)

How many of those hundred cars were same day repairs? I have no issues waiting a few hours at the dealer or doing a shuttle IF they can fix within a day.

The emission control valve TSB is quoted by Ford with 1.8hrs total work time - so it shouldn't be in the shop for 2 days to begin with (as the first dealer quoted before offering a $50 rental car). Anyway ... dropping it off now

Book time is just what Ford will pay for that job, it does not equate to real world time. Especially warranty work. Ford usually under cuts that time huge. When I worked for Ford, warranty paid 1/3 the time a normal job would. A 1.5 hour job warranty, was usually 3-4 hours real world.

My dealer doesn't do loaners but when i purchased my truck i had my salesman put it in writing that if i brought my truck there for service the would give me a loaner.
I just check with my salesman and he lets me pick whatever i want off the used car lot.

Same here. I tried to get them to let me drive off in the sweet 2017 F-250 they had just got in but they stuck me in a 2014 Fusion. It was ok.

This is Ford. The same company that needs pre-approval before doing warranty work will not have loaner vehicles for the owners/users of those vehicles in for repairs or service. It should not be shocking there's no loaners from Ford. However, your local dealer may provide it as a good will gesture.

A large dealership that see's 100+ vehicles a day generally WONT tell you to come in and they'll start working on your vehicle right away. Each one of the vehicles has it's own length of time to diagnose/repair/parts issues. The repair game is ever changing and wrenches get thrown in at all times that may change the time frame. Technicians are only paid when they are working on the vehicle, they won't be sitting around waiting for someone to come in for their "appointment" that most people show up late for or don't at all. They will continue to work on vehicles all day and set aside vehicles that have parts ordered and will get back to that vehicle when parts are in.
