Default New XLT - Would like to add the easy-down tailgate feature

Hey all,
I'm back in an F150! Pics to come...

But in the meantime, My new truck is an XLT with the 302a package and a nice set of options. But as you all know, even the most loaded up XLT is still missing some of the features found in the higher trim packages. Like the remote release tailgate which has the easy-down feature.

Is this addable to the XLT? (The easy-down, not the remote release)

I've searched but I just must not be hitting on the right keyword. I don't know what the "official" term is for what I'm calling "easy-down".

Thanks in advance!

But in the meantime, My new truck is an XLT with the 502a package and a nice set of options. But as you all know, even the most loaded up XLT is still missing some of the features found in the higher trim packages. Like the remote release tailgate which has the easy-down feature.

This has my interest peaked. Sub'd

It's super easy to add. Takes about 15 minutes with common tools.

Go here and read the thread:

PS. buying the 2 parts separately from Tasca is cheaper than the set.

Here's the parts you need:

The hinge part# FL3Z-83430B38-B, runs around $13-15.
The shock part# FL3Z-99442A38-A, runs around $20.

There are a few videos on YouTube to help your install. Ordering the two above parts is cheaper than the "official" Ford kit, but they're all the parts in the official kit and officially from Ford. Only difference is no instructions. Here is a link to the tutorial video on how to install this. There's a cheaper version (only slightly cheaper than the parts I listed above)...but it binds and is visible with the tailgate open. This one hides behind the tail light.

Thanks Six. I knew someone had to have tackled this task already. I'll probably order those parts this weekend.

Getting the windows tinted tomorrow and have a Truxedo LoPro QT on order that should be here next week.

Mine is at home waiting for me. I ordered from Autonation Ford. I got both parts and upgraded to UPS shipping ($2.42 extra). The total was $41.43 and it arrived in 2 days.
