You guys are awesome. Parts have been ordered. I'll update when I get it installed but as the links in this thread have shown, it appears to be an easy straightforward add-on.

Looking forward to it!

FYI If you have a tailgate step, don't expect your tailgate to just pop off the driver side pivot like it does in the you tube vids. Mine sure didn't. Someone posted that there was possibly an assist mechanism attached but who knows. All I can tell you is you don't have to take the tailgate off. Disconnect the electrical plug, release the passenger side from the pivot, and either lay the tailgate flat on a nice soft table/stool of the correct height, or have a buddy ready to hold it out there while you change the pivot out (it's a heavy bugger). After you have the new pivot cranked down, you can set the tailgate back in the slot and move on to the under the tail light portion of the program. Also I didn't think of this until after I was done, but the new pivot is black and the one you're taking out is color matched, along with the bolt heads... so maybe think about color matching the new pivot with spray paint. The OEM unit is a great mod. Relax, take a breath, do it.

This is one of those mods I want to do every time I drop the tailgate. Then I do stuff and go inside and forget about it until the next time. I don't really mind the tailgate that much but my wife hates it. Vertically challenged she is, and the truck is already sitting higher than normal so it's an awkward lift for her.....than again...wtf is she in my truck anyway?

I divorced my wife for the same reason. Won't be in my truck any more. 😉

I don't have the step, but the driver side hinge was a pita to unhook by myself. It was only a little less trouble to get back on. Passenger side came off and back on easy. Driver side, not so much.
