I would take the 36 gallon tank over either color or rear end. Or, keep looking.

I agree also on the 36 gallon fuel tank truck. I had a 2011 with the 36 gallon tank and traded it off on a 2016 with the 23 gallon tank. I kicked myself for doing that and traded the 2016 for a 2017, the middle of last June, with the 36 gallon tank again. I won't be going back to the smaller fuel tank in the future.

When i bought my truck the one thing it had to have was the fx4 package. It also had the 36 gal fuel tank which at the time didnt really care about. But i am very glad that it has it. I also have the 3.55 gears. Very happy with with my truck. Unless you do any off-roading your best bet would be the blue with the extra gallons. Good luck

Go with 3.73 rear gears the heavier of the 2 differentials. The new trucks have 3 over 1.1 gears (4-5-6) NOT enough low gears. Put the torque to the ground when you need it at startup. Lugging a engine will do more harm than than running it the plus 200 rpms at highway speeds. As for favorite color my is the green in MY wallet. No color is YOUR color Ford has over a million F150 on the road. Get a color and love it for the trucks performance and reliability. 36 gallon tank why haul around approximately 100# when these trucks can easily go over 400+ miles on a 23 gallon tank. A person has to get out and stretch their legs and have a nature break very so often anyway.

I have the 36 gallon tank and its nice. But I also wish I had the 3.73 gears. Its a tossup for me, though I think regearing would be more expensive than adding an extended tank.

Get a 3.5 eco with ten speed and max tow. You will never look back as they are quiet, great mpg's and can tow your house.

So, this isn't the opinion you're looking for but here goes. Look at the color. Is it something you can see yourself driving? Do you love the color? If either of those are no then I would pass on it. You can change gear ratios, or fuel tanks at a later date for relatively little. The paint, can be changed (sorta) but costs a lot more. Find a truck that has the color you want and most of the options you want. I've got the 23 gallon tank, it's not bad, I have a short commute though so it lasts a while. I did this when I was looking. Found several in colors I wasn't interested in that had a lot of features I wanted. I passed because if you're not happy with the color you're most likely going to regret your purchase.

If you buy the FX4, you'll find its not a big deal. You can mod a 4x4 cheaper. Don't buy it for the sticker. I've had both gear ratios. Only difference shows up when pulling a 6% grade while towing 7000 pounds. The 3.55 will give you just a tad better fuel mileage at highway speed. The 3.73 might give you better fuel mileage around town depending on how much junk you carry around.

The real kicker is the fuel tank. If you do not get it, we will see you back asking how much it will cost to swap tanks.

Either way both trucks are nice. Enjoy.

You are so right. Of all the vehicles I've owned, the one of my favorite color I've kept the longest.

No, the 6-speed does not have 3 gears that are over 1:1.
1 - 4.17:1
2 - 2.34:1
3 - 1.52:1
4 - 1.14:1
5 - 0.86:1
6 - 0.69:1

The new 10-speed does have 3 gears that are overdrive gears (8,9,10) but with a lower first gear, the 10-speed with 3.31's has an overall ratio that is about the same as the 6-speed with 3.73's.

As for the OP, I know I had to have the 36 gal. tank. The two colors you are looking at were my two preferred colors.
