Look in the Owners book that came there is a separate book for tires.

Right.

But nails are not covered...

Discount Tire does free flat repairs, but a sidewall cannot be repaired. I believe Discount Tire will sell you a road hazard warranty on a new vehicle, after you buy your new tire.

I guess the dealer didn’t try to sell you wheel and tire insurance... kidding.

You have to plug (not patch) those kinda punctures and still kinda iffy because it flexes there. If the rest are newish I’d get a new one. You can also get a cheapie used one for spare and toss you matching spare on, we do this on our work trucks as it’s quick and easy.

IIRC, the tires don't come with a warranty, unless you specifically bought one. The dealer threw in an 80k tire warranty when I bought my truck. Came in handy in August when I got a nail too close to the sidewall to patch (nobody plugs around here any more). One free tire. Had 27k on them though, so I bought the 2nd one on the same axle so they'd match.

Truck is going in for fall service tomorrow and I'm having the dealer put on 2 new tires, since I'm at 30k now and you can see visible wear on the front axle (new tires are on the back).

They do. It's a booklet in your glove compartment. It covers manufacturing defects, not road hazards.

Not really on the side wall as I thought, this should be a easy repair right? Would I be able to plug it myself?

Almost the same thing happened to me.. had to get a new tire, and bought a road hazard warranty from Discount at the same time.

Umm, no. That's NOT repairable. Even worse, it's in the spot where the tread cap meets the sidewall. That tire is trash. If I were stuck in the middle of nowhere and didn't have a spare, I might plug it and try to limp it somewhere... but there's no way in hell I'd plug it and drive it at highway speed.

unfortunately any reputable tire shop will not repair that. I'm sure you can find someone that will charge you and try, they are just stealing your money and its not worth... it'll end up going flat sooner rather than later and you'll need a new tire. Good luck.
