Im just curious how often do you guys trade your trucks in and get new ones. I do it every 3-4 years and my wife calls me crazy.

Your wife is right, you are crazy.

JK.

Actually, I don't think there's much rhyme or reason to when I change. I don't have a schedule for changing trucks. If you do, and you can afford it, it's OK by me. Changing every 3-4 years is an expensive proposition, though, unless you lease. If I was going to trade every 3-4 years, I'd definitely take a really hard look at leasing.

It probably depends some on how much traveling you do, too. If you're only racking up 5k miles per year, it might require some different justification than if you're racking up 30k per year.

It depends on how quickly I get bored with it, or when it starts nickel and diming me. I'm still driving an '04 I bought in '04, the last 150 was 5 years, the one before that was 12 years.

2.5 years and 31,000 miles on the last one: a 2014 XLT bought new. Cost me $7000 total in depreciation, about 21%, or $2800 per year.

Taxes not included.

Generally, just after the warranty ends which is usually three years. I'll most likely go four years with this one as it will only have about 23K at three years.

That and it has been flawless.

I trade between 55,000 and 70,000 miles before the truck starts really depreciating. For me that's right around 3 - 4 years.

I try to trade when rebates are the best, stock having the features I want is plentiful, and when miles, and months offer the best bang for the buck to trade.

I also do not accept any trade value less than KBB Good Value, and often get thousands more from negotiating the trade since X-plan can not be negotiated.

I have now bought 7 vehicles from the same salesman so getting a good trade value is not hard to come by.
