New Truck Decisions

So I'm looking at getting a new truck. I currently have a 2011 F150 5.0L and it's been amazing never had a single issue with it. The 2 trucks I'm looking at are basically identical besides one is a 5.0 and the other is a 3.5 eco boost. I don't want to start a war but I'm just wondering basically how the 3.5 is doing these days for people. I know the 5.0 is rock solid so I'm not too concerned about that.

Have a 2017 3.5 eco gen 2 with 18,500 miles with no issues.

Might I inquire why no 2.7 in the mix? I came out of 100,000 miles with a 2012 5.0 and find the 2.7 at least it's equal and 3mpg better at the pump.

Honestly I haven't really looked into that more at all I noticed there's very few in my area for some reason too.

I also should mention I'm looking at 2015+ so how is the aluminum holding up? Especially in harsher winter areas.

I'm in Canada here, if that helps.
Besides the possible issues with the door handle freeze ups due to design, not alu (I don't have the issue), those aluminum trucks are holding pretty good.
because the frame is still made of steel, I do get it rust-treated underneath every Fall, just for the sake of it....I go to KROWN, they have a good product. I plan on keeping the truck until it dies, so I chose Alu/rust treatment and give this a shot. I got the 5.0L, again HOPEFULLY bringing me a little more in terms of longevity. Touching wood!

I'm in my second 3.5L Ecoboost F-150. My first one was a 2014 F-150 Limited 2WD. My second and current truck is a 2018 F-150 Platinum FX4 3.5L EB with 3:55.1 gears and Max Tow Package. It has 3700 mile on the clock without any issue so far. It getting approximately 17/18 MPG on the highway at 62/65 MPH. The only thing I don't like it the Hankook tire.

Not that there's anything wrong with the 5.0L V8. I just like the EB 3.5L engine and wouldn't have anything else.

I'm currently drive a 17 2.7L Eco 2wd. If I get offered and accept this position in St. Louis I may be looking to trade for a 4wd. I would not hesitate to get a 3.5L Eco or another 2.7L Eco powered truck.

2015 S-crew, 3.5EB, 6.5 bed that's got almost 60K on the clock. Other than oil changes, it's never seen the dealer. Absolutely no issues with the truck or powerfrain. It's by far, the most luxury equipped vehicle I've ever had. Wife took it ever and I'm left with a 2014 Escape with the 2.0EB. No issues with that one eithe.r

You really ought to look at the 2.7 in fact go drive all 3. I have a 2015 2.7 and just ordered another 2.7 I liked it so much. I’m getting real 21.3 MPG over the life of the truck, 36,000 miles.
