Default New tires rubbing...help!

I got the 295/60R20 Ridge Grapplers installed on stock wheels today and to my surprise, they rub slightly at full lock when turned fully right. I’m running a 2.5” level and stock rims. The diameter appears to clear no problem, but it looks like the sidewall is slightly rubbing on the sway bar (I think).

Im thinking I need to go with a slightly slimmer tire...do Nittos tend to run a bit wider? I’m considering a 285/65/20 in the KO2 or maybe a 275/65/20 in either Nitto or KO2. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I can confirm it’s rubbing on the sway bar, but only on the passenger side strangely enough...

Why not keep the tires and get 9" wide wheels with a +18 offset?

I found this calculator to be helpful in seeing the differences between stock and new tire/wheel combo... it diagrams the before and after to give you a better idea of the effect new size or offset will have.
https://www.willtheyfit.com/

Also, each tire manufacturer lists the actual dimensions of their tires... actual dimensions of a 295/60R20 varies from mfr to mfr.

That or possibly a tiny spacer will move the wheel out to where the side wall does not rub on the stock wheels. Personally, I like the idea of wheels with a better offset for the tires you want more.

Thanks for the replies. I am pretty set on keeping the stock wheels, I guess I will have to try a size down or a size that is thinner

I can verify that the 285-65's will fit, no rub on your stock wheels.

The Ridge Grapplers must run a bit larger than most other 295-60's as there are several people running that size with a 2" level on stock rims.

i think you are right. Got my old tires put back on, will be trying a slimmer sizs or portentially a KO2.

On a side note, I couldn’t believe how much power those heavier tires robbed from my truck...with the stock tires back on it feels amazingly more nimble and fast. I know most people here are probably saying “uh, yeah what did you expect?” to that comment but I’m new to this whole thing. I think I’ll be looking at tires that aren’t so heavy on the next try.

If you stay away from the "E" rated tire it will help you shave some weight. With the Grapplers you would have lost around 2 mpg because of the weight.

Put some spacers, it might solve the rubbing? Looks cool too and for 100$, you can't be wrong.

275/65r20 is a nice size IMO. That what I would have chosen if I had installed a lift. It would probably look odd on my OEM suspension setup.
