New Ranch Hand grill guard on my truck. What y’all think?

In Texas, my home state, driving in the Hill Country is like playing Wack-a-mole. I've seen Caddies with cattle guards.... In Florida now, deer are much daintier though I'd still rather not impact one.
Sorry OP. Carry on.

My dad put that exact one on his 2016 F-150. He thinks it’s too big and wants to remove it.... maybe I’ll try it on mine.
His is a situation where they live in Houston but travel to the their vacation home in the hill country....lots of deer over there.

If a deer were to strike the area around the head light. Is there enough strength to keep it from bending into the truck fender.
Lived in the Hill country so know how many can encounter in a night.

I can assure you, that grille guard will only make a deer strike worse, since the attachment point is down low. What might have been minor will tear up the entire front end, as the impact will force the whole grille guard back into the hood, quarter panels, lights, grille, etc.
If you want to fortify against deer strikes, you need a full front end replacement.

I've heard that from people that had guards.
Other "hill country old timers" felt the damage would still be there from a guard. But not enough for insurance.
So they would be out the money or leave alone. Whereas, no guard, let the insurance fix it. ???
In all the years living there, never encountered a deer hit. Close calls but no strikes.
On a 250 they look ok, but on some half ton, too big bulky looking.

There are some heavy full replacement bumpers, but they usually start around a couple grand and go up from there. So the bumper would actually cost more than getting it fixed...especially if comparing it to an insurance deductible
