Default New king ranch leather

So, first new car or truck for me.

I'm getting a 2015 king ranch. I know the old leather was a lot of work.

What are people putting on their new king ranch leather to keep it looking good.?

I'm sure lots of questions to come. Going to do the manual tomorrow

Nothing - I've had leather in almost every car I owned and never treated the leather. I kept it clean, but no treatment application. Never had a problem.

I use the King Ranch conditioner and the duragloss 221 (it's exactly the same stuff that the King Ranch sadle shop sells for much cheaper.

Put it on by hand wearing nitril gloves. Buff with clean towel. Trust me, you'll love it!

How often do you do this?

Is there any protectant that you put on it when you first get it from the dealer? Like a sealer or something?

Genuine leather doesn't warrant a sealer, in my opinion. I'm going to treat my KR leather just like David, with the genuine conditioner. That will soften the leather while letting it breathe. That breathing process, or absorption/release of moisture is what helps keep the leather soft in the long run.

I'll do it every 3-4 months. I definitely did it at my first cleaning. The smell is awesome. Like the older king ranches used to smell. (Like a saddle or a baseball glove factory)

Its awesome

Do you use both in a particular order? If I read your first post above correctly, you use both the King Ranch conditioner and the Duragloss. Do you put both on every 3-4 months?

I think he means he has used both, but uses the Duragloss 221 because it's the same but cheaper.

Almost all auto leather is pigmented leather which repels water and any conditioner. The only place it is absorbed is where the stitching is and the perforations, where the leather is actually exposed. Also remember there isn't much leather to the seat "seating surfaces" only, I don't think the headrest is either I know its not on my 2004. Nothing in the rear seat except King Ranch rear not sure about platinum. Hope I didn't burst anyone's bubble.
