Default New Diff Cover

I’m thinking about going with this diff cover - would anyone know how much extra gear oil needed? And do I fill to the bottom or top plug?

Many thanks.

You would still fill it to the standard level using the fill hole on the housing.

the top plug is if you have alot of pinion angle
Also that Ford cover is just a double the cost of a Spicer one. You get a Ford Performance decal for $160 more it costs... FYI you can get the badge on Amazon for $6

You can order Spicer 10023539 for $139.
Amazon Amazon

Answering your questions:
1. Top fill plug for lifted trucks, bottom fill plug for non lifted. Is what I've read here at least...
2. From Amazon reviewers: SECOND, according to the factory manual the differential holds 2.6 liters oil (2.75 qts.). That is too little with this cover! Capacity will be somewhere between 3.5 and 4 qts. Mine was filled with exactly 4 qts. to the bottom of the lower fill hole in the cover. (ONLY use the upper fill hole IF YOUR TRUCK IS LIFTED 4" or more. DO NOT use the upper hole on stock suspensions or leveled trucks. DO NOT overfill the diff!).

The drain plug sounds nice...

@KennyCJR either just replaced his or is about to.

I thought it stated that it did NOT increase capacity? Stage 3 says it does not but I haven’t installed one.

as others have mentioned, use the lower fill hole unless lifted.

I’m going to install mine this coming week. I’m waiting on a set of S/S ARP bolts to come in. I have 3 qts of motorcraft gear oil to back in. If need be, I’ll run to town and grab another quart.

I'm also installing a lube locker gasket while everything is apart.

But yes, fill to the bottom hole.

Curious about this...

I just did the rear diff service on my '15...used the Spicer cover and Lubelocker gasket, 22ft/lbs for the plugs and 33ft/lbs for the cover bolts (reused OEM without issue). It definitely took more fluid than spec...every bit of 4qt (yes, level and to the bottom hole).

Does this cover actually add capacity or not?
