Their numbers are all screwed up! The 2017 3.5L EcoBoost makes 375HP, and 470lb/ft of torque!

My bad! They are giving numbers for the N/A 3.5L, NOT the EcoBoost!

I'd like to know why Ford doesn't offer the 400hp/480lb-ft option of the 3.5 EB to F-150 owners. It's no doubt the exact same engine with slight software changes and likely a premium fuel requirement. They could offer it for $495 though Ford Performance similar to the kits provided for Focus/Fiesta ST's and other models which I believe also maintained the factory warranty if installed at the dealership.

Ford is Sandbagging with this one, or they just detuned it to make the 3.5 EB look
better.

25 more hp and 10 more ft-lbs? They just bumped power for '17. Give it a few years before another power bump. It's called life cycle!

They sometimes "sandbag" engines for trucks to give them longevity. It's entirely possible that running an engine that hard will shorten its life considerably, and if we expect to get 250,000+ miles out of a motor, it needs to be detuned a bit from 'maximum'...

If that's not your expectation, then yes, I'd agree that they're sandbagging it and that this gives lots of room for the aftermarket folks to kick it up a few notches.

My guess is the gen2 3.5 numbers are based on lots of abusive towing with 87 octane. These trucks are rated up to 12,200. The most you can pull with the expedition is 9300. I'm sure those numbers are only good on 93 as well.

Ford doesn't know how to make their products last longer than 5 years or 150,000 miles. Why do you think they started using cam phasers. Haha tell someone their vehicles needs a couple of thousand dollar repairs, they'll just dump it and buy another vehicle. The game is to sell new vehicles, not make **** last.

Cam phasers are used for VVT (Variable Valve Timing)!
