New Bilstein 6112 coilover and 5160 installed

Took my 6112's out for a little test today. -21C snowing, 160km highway then 30km of snow covered washboard gravel. They are definitely smoother riding than stock. No way the stock shocks going back in!!! Highway ride was more improved than the washboard. Though the -21C may have played a part there. I think they are a little bit of hype on the shock size (i didnt need the extra cooling today) and the springs responsible for a large part of cost increase. Id hope they are better than 5100's since your spending more money and i feel they are. But not on a price performance level. Most people would be better served with a 5100 set. Because the larger body requires new springs some of your performance dollar went there. They were half the cost of rebuildable fox 2.5 remote reservoir shocks but the performance is also less.
I wonder what would happen if they made a remote reservoir 5100 series. Keep the stock coils and get more oil volume and possible compression damping for the same dollars.

Well I took the plunge and I drop my truck off Tuesday for a 4" BDS lift (spacer, my installer talked me out of FOX coilovers) and I wanted to upgrade to 5100s but I ordered 6112s and 5160s. I think I'll be really happy with this set up as I initially wanted an upgraded spring as well as shocks. Also installing 4.10 gears and going down to 18s from 20s and trying the Duratracs. Both nervous and excited at the same time. This thread has helped quite a bit, thanks.

Yes I did, just haven't had a chance to start my own post. Bottom line, I couldn't be happier. It's the best riding lifted truck I've ever been in. The 5160s have planted the rear end and have quite a bit of travel over stock. 6112s are set at the stock setting and ride incredibly well. 4.10s make the truck feel like I have the stock tire size on, acceleration is spot on.

i am installing these Friday and torn between the top setting(2”) or one down (1.5”) setting? I’ve seen some guys say you got more than 2” out of the top setting and I do not want to be nose high. I am about 2.5” rake stock now.

hi, did you happen to take before and after height measurements? What setting for the 6112’s did you go with?

Does anyone know if I will be able to fit a 34.37"(11.69"wide) tire on stock rims with the 6112?
I had 34.6" tires on my last truck with 2.5AS spacer and they fit fine but if the net is increase is 2" with the Bilstein i wasn't sure if I would have problem.
Any thoughts??

I ran a 275x65r20 (34.1x11) on a 1” level and 1.25” of clearance to the crash bars at the tightes point when turned.
