Default New Battery Opinions

The other morning the temps were in the upper 30's and I remote started my 2+ year old truck. When I went outside it had not started, but the green light on the remote came on. I went on about my day and didn't think twice of it.
A few days later it was equally cold outside and as I was walking up to the truck I remote started it and the truck barely turned over but this time it did fire up.

This has me thinkin' that it's time for the factory battery to be replaced before I end up stranded somewhere and I was wondering... do most of you just go to the dealership and have them swap out the battery for another FORD battery, or do you buy a 'better' alternative elsewhere? Also, what would that better alternative be in your opinion? I just something with a long life and good CCAs.

I've put Walmart Everstart Maxx batteries in the last few times. I've had one in my mustang for 8 years and it still starts with a 347 10.5 comp engine. I also had one in my 04 that was on its 3rd year with no issues and it sat a lot of the time without driving it. After all the horror stories I've read about Red tops and Yellow tops not being good anymore, I just go for the cheapest, easiest avail, which tends to be my Walmart that is open 24hours.

Any time I change out a battery I go with an AGM. Better CCA and reserve than an equally sized lead acid battery. Better in the cold. Was please to see that my 2018 Raptor came factory with an AGM.

You should make sure its an "Absorbed Glass Mat" or "AGM" because they are designed for the continuous drain and charge of the auto stop/start system. This is what your F150 came with when new and you will find them available from any battery manufacturer. The older style "lead-acid" are not recommended.

Also check the manufactured date. Even just sitting on a shelf will decrease the life of the battery. Batteries are heavy and it's not uncommon to find retailers that do not properly rotate their stock.

And to answer the OP's question, I would buy from any brand.

Based on useage I'll be unhappy if I only get 2+ years from my factory battery. Was the current battery ever damaged or run completely down to zero charge?

Isn't the battery warranted by Ford for at least 3 years? I'm sure it would be pro-rated so not sure how much of savings would be involved with a dealer replacement?

But I don't have auto start/stop on my 2015 3.5EB. Also, those AGM batteries aren't cheap! Thanks for the tip, I'm off to research my AGM options.
