My brother recently bought a Hyundai Tuscon,he was also looking at the Ford Escape too,but bought the Tuscon because of the price.
Quality isn't cheap and cheap isn't quality.

I didn't think the Lariat was considered a luxury trim. I'd be surprised if the Nav came in a "beat down" version that could be brought up to luxury level with options. LOL.
Like it or not, Ford has already decided which engine is luxury and which one isn't.
Edit*** I didn't realize you could order a Platinum with a v8. All the dealerships around me only had 3.5 in stock. FWIW, the 3.5 costs 1,000 more. ***

Serious about what? Do you think Ford is putting what they consider a crap engine in their top of the line Luxury vehicle? W/O options to upgrade.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot Ford screws up on imo. I also don't think consumer opinion matters as much as it's given credit for here.

If Lincoln went with the V6 and no option for V8, then the writing is on the wall for the V8. It's no longer a luxury engine. But rather it's being moved into the specialized department.
BTW, I wasn't knocking the Lariat trim. Just taking into account the price and standard equipment.

Like I would have to be smoking crack to pay 400k for a V6 super car,but remember,that's just me.
Half the reason for the V6 in the Ford GT was marketing the EB name.Ford can't get through a interview on the Ford GT without mentioning EB. A lot think the EB means anti-V8,it does not,but simply that you can get X amount of power out of a smaller engine while remaining fairly efficient.No different than Ford dropping the 6.2 V8 for a 5.0 V8 TT (EB).Larger V8 power,smaller V8 efficiency.
