I like the step on my '11 but having the handle inside the tail gate is a nice improvement.

I'm wondering how this would possibly affect the people that install the pop lock tailgate modules. It would be cool to have that integrated into the tailgate, just curious about possible rattles later down the road.

At the recent PDX drive event, repeated demos of the tailgate features (including remote opening) with folks climbing in and out of the bed soon became the highlight of the evening. For me however, I could care less since I equip my beds with hard tonneau covers and have no reason to bodily access the box. But, whatever floats your boat...the 2015 is a great improvement over prior F150 models for those who can utilize the new features.

I have a Cap but still use the step quite a bit.

The tailgate on the 15s lock with the doors so there's no need for a pop lock.

My understanding is that is only with the option (lariat and above I believe, maybe it is an option for xlt) to have the auto open tailgate.

I would prefer to see just a ford oem kit like dodge has to have an electric lock/unlock instead of the whole auto-opening thing.

My understanding to gunslinger's post is that is what the fords tailgate does. Just locks/unlocks. Doesn't open like with the pop and lock aftermarket stuff.

All 2015 F150's have the Lock/Unlock Tailgate with remote. Lariat MID and above have the release, which will automatically deploy/lower the tailgate (probably a double click).

EDIT - I see Jeep said same thing :-)

What I find interesting is;

The 2014's & earlier have the Handle on the Right side?
The 2015's have the Handle on the Left Side.
I didn't ask if the Handle was interchangeable on the 2015?

Next generation will probably have Handles on both sides??
