Default Need clarification on XL vs. XLT

I've done quite a bit of research on the XL and XLT, driven both, etc. I was reading a review the other day that suggested the XL was a bad choice if you planned on spending any extended amount of time in the truck. That got me thinking, "why would they say that?"

As far as I know, the mechanical features are identical on similarly equipped XL and XLT. The seat material and the and seat design is the same between XL with STX and XLT. The only things I can come up with are no power seats and the arm rests aren't as comfortable in the XL vs XLT.

Am I missing anything else? I specifically bought a '17 XL SuperCrew 2.7 STX because it was the perfect mix of features and function (for me, at least). I'm happy with my choice, but that review has me wondering if I missed something in my research.

Thanks

Yes, I've reviewed all the literature, but can't find anything that provides a reason why one truck would be more comfortable overall. Outside of what I listed above, the differences seem to be cosmetic, if that's the right word.

I think they are talking about the upgraded creature comforts. Not literally more comfortable

Why you dwelling on what one reviewer said? If you are happy with what you have, then no reason to waste brain power on what can just be an opinion based on personal bias.

Vehicle articles written by magazines and online vehicle blogs are just blowhard puff pieces to generate traffic for ad revenue. No need to pick the fly **** out of the pepper worrying about some writer bozo that may have total different needs and tastes in a truck than you do.

hard touch vs soft touch plastic on some interior parts. The XL seats adjust front to back and seat recline, that's it. XLT seats let you raise and lower the front and back of the seat bottom as well as the usual forward and back and seat recline. If you're comfortable in the XL seats then don't worry about it, but some may feel sits like you're too upright or not upright enough. The 8 and 10 way seats let you fine tune it more to your liking.

Genetics, unfortunately. I'm an over-thinker/second-guesser.

I appreciate the feedback from everyone. I have my answer(s)!

I wonder why the stx is only available on supercab and sc only? I mean ill take the xlt but would like the sporty painted bumpers and grill with the 20s instead of the stock 17s.

One thing that I notice about my 2016 XL is that it's noticeably nosier than my 2014 Limited. The sound insulation must be very limited in the XL. I'm actually considering having the seats and carpet removed along with the door panels and installing some sound deadening material.

Have you ridden in a '15-'17 XLT (or higher) to compare road noise? Perhaps it's a generation difference.
