Navigation woes

Factory Nav's just sucks. Expensive to update and one to two years out of date once it's released. Just bought my wife a Lexus and the Nav map is up to date and parts of the Grand Parkway is just blank spots on the screen. LOL

I had my APIM fail in my 2016. The tech figured it out in no time (granted it was pretty obvious since the screen was all but frozen). One of the symptoms was the arrow showing I was off the road, and the voice telling me crazy things. The dealers in Houston actually have a dedicated Sync Technician. The one I went to in Pasadena shares theirs with at least one other dealership because there aren't a ton of issues that require him. I would try the dealer, could have a code stored for faults (mine did).

Go to google maps. Pre-download maps on phone. Then turn the app to "wifi only mode" Now you can use google maps that doesn't use any data, doesn't have any connection issues AND have the power of google with all search functions, etc.

i don’t know if it is still the case, but when I owned a 2012 Ford Focus the factory navigation maps were provided by HERE. Only reason I know this is I updated them after a year and had some problems. Perhaps not relevant to the quality of the map data, but HERE customer service was some of the worst I have ever experienced.

Yep, HERE is the source for most vehicles. Except the 2016 Ford F150.

LOL.... FORD, says that there is no Map Update for my 2016 Nav... Which is clearly 5 or 6 years behind, based on roads that have been built/expanded, but don't show up on my maps... Every day, it shows me driving across fields on my way to work.
Clearly - Ford does not want to make any money selling map updates.
