My truck saved my life today
I had been up for 36 hours straight after flying across the country and back and for the first time in my 30 years of driving, I dozed off on the highway driving home from the airport. My hands did not leave the wheel, the truck started to veer from the lane, and the wheel shook and pushed be back into the lane waking me up.
I’m still shaken, embarrassed and a little shocked, but incredibly thankful that this technology exists now.

A scary story with a good outcome. Glad you are okay.
My lane keeping system is turned off because it has a lot of unintended consequences driving on rural and curvy roads or simply trying to drive around a pothole. However, I had bronchitis last year and started coughing while driving on a 4 lane highway at 70 mph with my wife behind me. I momentarily blacked out when I could not catch my breath and ran off the road. Luckily, it was a straight and gentle slope and I did not jerk the wheel when regaining my composure. The lane keeping system may have helped me in that case, but I will never know.

OP'er all's well that ends well, good story!
Wish i would of had 'lane keeping' years ago when a dam hornet flew in my car buzzing around my head.
Dam near veered into the opposite lane trying to swat that dam thing.
I've made many cross country trips over the years.
One time i dozed off and fortunately caught myself just in time.
Since then at the first sign of drowsiness i pull into the next rest stop for a power nap and coffee.
Drowsiness at 70+ mph is nothing to fool around with.

It can be good, but mostly a PIA with the current system. Its hard to keep it in the sweet spot
of a two lane road. Its constantly jerking or vibrating. The Cadillac and BMW system does
not seem to be as annoying. But its new tech, maybe ford can get the bugs out
I don't drive long distances now. Call it a solar driver now, sun up to sundown. Than
find a nice hotel, to just relax and go out for a good meal. I have friends who like
the night driving, they can have it

Glad to hear it worked for you! On a side note, how the heck do you stay awake on a plane for 36 hours?! Unless of course, you were flying it!
