Default My Thoughts after getting a Line-X spray on bed liner

So I did the research and decided that Line-X would be the best application and the best bed liner for what I was looking for. Whenever I get something done to my truck - or I do a job in general - I am the type that will not finish until it is PERFECT. I take a lot of pride in what I do and am pretty meticulous in nature. Reading, and looking at all these close up pictures, and watching the youtube videos about Line-X got me SUPER excited. From what everyone had said and from everything I had seen - Line-X was absolutely a precision, exact, professional job. I am left not only disappointed, but really turned off. Having said that... Money was no issue. I didnt care how much I had to pay to get it done PERFECT. Let me share some photos and my experience with y'all.

Here was the first thing that I noticed. They couldnt get the bed lighting back in properly. They got a razor blade and tried to make it fit for 15 minutes and then they offered to glue it.

whoever masked off the truck doesnt know what they are doing. It took me an hour to get all the bed liner off the bottom of that plastic rail piece.

a little disappointed in how the lights arent flush - or at least a little closer to being flush.

looks like a huge clump in the corner. This area of the bed must have been sprayed over and over because it is noticeably thicker than the rest of the job.

it looks thin like that all the way around my truck bed. Right under the plastic rail cover.

really bummed about this. the tailgate had overspray in both latch areas.

Looks like they chipped my paint somehow. awesome.

when they took the led bed lighting out - nobody thought to mask the back side of the hole it created. It was described to me as a learning experience. I call it being lazy and uneducated as a company.

from not masking the led bed lighting - bedliner was ALL on the inside of my tailights. This picture taken after they tried their best to clean all the bedliner off. there are little specs ALL around my taillights.

in order for the tailgate to open properly - I had to remove the left hand side rubber stopper. Seriously, it would click open and just sit there till I pulled on it.

I can not even fit all the pictures I wanted to share with everyone. There is bed liner over spray on the exterior paint in a few places, on top of the plastic rail cover.

I will not mention which location I went to as the people running that store were pretty apologetic and accommodating and nice to me the entire time. It just so happens their district manager was there and he argued with me about every thing I brought to his attention. He would ask me a question and then immediately cut me off. This happened 4-5 times. He kept telling me about how he had 18 years experience, and I was like ok, but this isnt done right!! After about an hour of this I got frustrated and paid and left. I got the premium liner for 414 out the door. They gave me a discount, but I didn't want one. I wanted the expert job done that I was willing to pay 600 bucks for. I'm so disappointed with my line-x, y'all.

ON TOP OF THAT THEY DIDNT PLUG MY TAILGATE HARNESS BACK IN. I HAD NO BACKUP CAMERA AND THE TAILGATE WOULDNT LOCK UNTIL I FIGURED IT OUT LATER THAT EVENING.

A couple general questions for anyone who has one installed:

1. Did you all have any issues with your tailgate after your spray?
2. Are my expectations set too high?
3. Am I complaining for nothing?
4. Do your led bed lights and button sit flush?

Sorry for the long post - I had to get this off my chest. Any questions/comments are greatly appreciated.

Combination of legitimate gripe and nit picky.

Line x is a franchise though too, so keep that in mind.

Mine have always been great

That is an absolutely **** poor job and from the sounds of it you handled way better than i would have. With the exception of my tie down brackets not being tightened all the way down my line-x job was outstanding. 110% satisfied.

The level of skill obviously varies between locations and I'm glad the one i used was not yours.

I would absolutely be livid because I, like you, am extremely critical with my vehicles and who i let work on them.

to answer your questions,
1. not a one
2. no they are not
3. no, i would be seeking replacement of EVERYTHING they screwed up and if that means a new bed than so be it
4. yes, completely

I wish you the best of luck if you pursue recourse against them.

LineX is an excellent product but the quality of application comes down to specific dealers and the actual guy doing the work.
Have two LineX dealers near me, one has an excellent reputation and reviews. The other not so much.
Actually had my truck done a few years ago at the place with the worse reputation and I thought they did an excellent job.

Other members should use the op's experience when getting a spray in liner and let the installer know about things like the tail light and light switch.
Sorry you were disappointed hopefully your experience can help other members avoid the same issues.

Yeah, I tried to fix what I could today and try and let some of it go, but the more I think about it, the more it upsets me. Heres the deal - honestly I dont even want to bring the truck back to them to "fix" it. I wonder what would happen if I called the next closest location and explained my situation... the biggest PITA right now is the tailgate not opening as it should. goodness gracious.

yup. you can have the best product in the world..... but leave it to an installer who is either: inexperienced, lazy, or doesn't know any better and BAM. you end up with a bed liner that looks like mine that sits in the back of my 40k truck.

I think when I have free time next week I will take it by the next closest location to me. 45 minute drive, but it may be worth it.

That really sucks! I would be raging. I had my 2014 bed sprayed with Speedliner at a local shop - absolutely no problems. My 2016 was sprayed in by the Ford dealership - they did a perfect job! Sorry you are having to deal with this mess.
