No, he's splitting the signal in order to not install a new antenna. More work IMO but its another option.

I get that. I figured that the 2016 would have a different antenna style because Sirius and GPS are different frequencies and usually require different antenna types. The SATCOM guru in me is looking at the super technical part that is probably not even relevant in this situation. lol

I too like options. I guess if people are willing to remove the CD player and the glovebox to run the harness instead of the antenna its a valid option. I'm lazy (meant to say, work smart) and instead of removing stuff I decided to add the antenna which is faster/easier.

However, I will say that the splitter is a more elegant solution.

Yeah i would agree it is a little bit more work but its the same price as the aftermarket one.

Yes the nav works with it.

So I think you are right.

When I have the aftermarket GPS antenna plugged in Sync 3 has no issues but the IPC has an issue with the compass. When I stop or drive really slow the compass will go back and forth between two directions (i.e. N or NE) every like half second. Kind of annoying at a light.

With the splitter. After about 5 minutes i am seeing a GPS icon with the circle and line through it. Nav seems to work just fine. But my Compass on the IPC works correctly when stopped. Since I use CarPlay the most I think I will just use the splitter.

Neither show any DTCs

I will put this info in my write up about the issues I have had with both so people can decide what they want to do. Might just be me with the set up I have.

If you have the stock GPSM plugged in that's under the dash, almost under the light sensor, I'd think the IPC should work fine.

I do. I did have the external antenna on it not sure if that made it go nuts.

What happened after you removed it? Is that the second scenario on your previous post?

Interesting. I ordered the splitter, but I might order the 2016 antenna as well.
