Default My F150 almost killed my dog!!!

So the GF and I go shopping at the outlets and we regularly take the dog with us. One of the beautiful things about the F150 is that you can leave it running w/ the AC on and lock the keys in it. Great for the dog, with the back seats flipped up, he sleeps in the back like a baby, cool as an ice cube. Well with my 2013 F150, I would leave the key in the ignition, truck running, ac on, doors locked. Today we go in the 15 platinum, same deal but since there is no actual key, I leave the fob in the center console, truck running, ac on, doors locked. We go about our business and come back to the truck later and there are 2 police cars behind my truck. As I walk up I ask the officers if there is a problem, (I'm thinking these people probably don't know the truck is running a/c on).. they say "the doggy police called" I said oh, the truck is running, I put my hand on the tailpipe and lone behold.. the truck is off! Now I 100% know I left the truck running when we left as we adjusted the rear console vents so they blew right on where he was laying. I explained to them that there was only 300 miles on the truck and maybe this thing shuts off after idling for so long. Thank god it was not hot out today or my dog might have died. Im totally against people leaving their dogs in hot cars, but this was not the case.

So whats the deal.. does this thing automatically shut off after idling for so long? If so is there anyway to change it???

I just went outside and turned off the auto engine off in the advanced settings as shown in Kenns link. I just wish these things would be turned OFF from the factory and let you turn them on if need be. This could have been very bad if today was a 80+ degree day.. it barely broke 70 here in Pittsburgh today and the truck was parked in the shade. I was gone for an hour and a half, meaning he was probably without A/C for around an hour! At that point I would have hoped the officers would have broke my window to get my dog out.

I'm pretty sure every police unit has a "Slim jim" i believe they are called those tools to unlock doors.. Well at least here in Texas most carry them... Good to know your dog is okay and the problem is resolved.

For some reason, I get the feeling that almost no one would ever turn that AutoOff function on.

You would have to read the manual closely to even see that option.

No problem. I'd hate it if that happened to my dog too.

At the risk of offending the OP; we are buying a very technically heavy vehicle, READ the manual people. While not every little detail is there it contains a lot of useful information. This OP is a case in point!
