Agreed. Lots of click bait here. Misleading dramatic title, wrong gender, fire drama ...

Has anyone been able to verify this other than the OP? If this is a real problem, can we get a thermometer on it after a good remote start? I'm with the other posts that the seat heaters (TED or otherwise) could be on 100% for a week and not burn the truck down.

As Ford not making a wiring mistake, I installed about 1000 wiring harness adapters in the 2000s on F150s and other vehicles that could burn down garages and houses. They didn't actually fix the failure prone cruise control units, but instead added a small fuse inline so if the cruise module shorted it wouldn't burn the truck up.

We are a long way from an engineering mistake on the wiring so far, since this analysis is based on smell and someones perception of hot. If it gets fixed, I'm betting its a flash to a module and nothing more. The tech at the dealer can play with it all day, but if he doesn't have the update, it will never get fixed.

I'll test when I finish my coffee. I have mine set to auto but I'll go out & turn heat & seats to high, then change settings from AUTO to last used & then remote start it. Will compare both seats after letting it run for 10 - 12 minutes & report back.....

First time, I had seats set to medium (center and bottom leds lit and steering wheel heat at medium with Forscan), followed his directions and normal results. Later I reset steering wheel to high with Forscan and seats at max heat. Didn't get anything out of the ordinary either time.

So all works as it should. I first changed climate in remote start from auto to last setting. Seat choices were either auto or off, so I left that on auto. Then I set the heat to 80 & put both seats on high & shut the engine off.
Remoted started & let it run for 12 minutes. Warm inside & both seats were much hotter then when they are when the climate was set to auto.

I think the first post says to:

- turn truck climate heater on high
- turn steering wheel and seat heaters OFF

then remote start and check to see if steering wheel and passenger seat get hot.

Rodger & bingo! With seat heat turned off in remote start settings, my passenger seat was hot after remote starting. Drivers was not warm at all. I don't have heated wheel. Oh and it's about 40 out.

As long as it does not come on when it's warm out I'll live with it.

That's the way I read it also... that seats are off and passengers seat which should not be on is getting very hot..

Seems like this would be a simple program update to correct from FORD?

Funny, I have noticed the passenger seat warm during remote start... but never thought anything of it... was gong to research it, but forgot... I figured I had to change some settings..
