I think you are correct, go figure that something that the engineer would come up with from Government Motors.

Suffice it to say it sagged badly, had trouble getting going and stopping....And he would never do it again.
Was funny to watch....
Then your friend was petty darn far over his rating........ Honda Ridgeline Towing capacity: 3,500 to 5,000 lbs
The Ridgeline is great riding truck for folks that don't tow heavy, don't care about acceleration (they are not quick), and don't carry heavy things in the bed.
They are for people that want a great ride and just need to be able to haul lighter items. I don't think it even has a frame...isn't it a unibody?
My point is that isn't an apples-to-apples comparison.....it was really only good for shutting him up about anything he may ever say about the towing capability of his truck.

Honda says they are based on the Pilot, but they are really based on the Odyssey.

It's not much for towing, but its payload is more than my SuperCrew. It actually has boxed frame rails from front to back and the unibody is welded to them, kind of a hybrid design. And the composite bed is tough as hell. So it can definitely do some real truck things. I seriously considered one but ended up getting a lot more (and better looking) truck for about the same money with an F-150.

IT"S NOT A TRUCK, it's a minivan with a bed. A truck does not have a transverse mounted engine with Front wheel or All wheel drive (based off a front wheel drive power train). I agree with a nice bed with bad spare tire placement, what happens if you have a load in the bed. Oh-crap.

Also, I have a step and I don't have to remove my trailer hitch to use it.

My son and I are attending the Raleigh Auto Expo tomorrow. I hope there is a GMC Denali there, with the fancy tailgate. If there is, I'm going to try and get photos of the distance between the hitch, and the tailgate when it's down.

Please do and post if possible. From the photos I have seen it's an accident waiting to happen.

Probably as funny as guys in F150s who tow 11-12000lbs thinking its no problem.
I like the Ridgeline, it is a unibody and isnt for towing big weights but it is a well built "truck" which would probably outlast my f150.
Its an N/A 3.5 litre and essentially an SUV with a box.

To bad they are to heavy to drag around all day because it would be hilarious to take a hitch with you and slide it in and then ask the rep for a demonstration of the tail gate.
