Morimoto XB Headlight Install - 2 Questions 1 Problem (Halos not working)
#191
Very Disappointed and Aggravated
I read these posts yesterday after receiving my head lights (drop-shipped by The Retro Source but purchased through Stage 3 MotorSports). I specifically asked about the wiring harness (I have factory LED's) and was told since that is what I ordered my lights would include everything that I needed. Well, after removing the OEM lights, immediately it was obvious that I, too, received either the wrong lights or didn't receive the harness. I've been researching all afternoon (everyone is closed so I'm screwed until Monday) and found that the box my lights arrived in reference PN LF502, which on Morimoto (and others) web site indicates these are the OEM Halogen version. The OEM LED version is LF504 which is what I ordered. So I don't know if all of the lights are the same and it is just a harness issue or what, but what I am sure of is that for spending $1500 I should have received all of the correct parts, with adequate installation instructions (the instructions that arrived with my lights are not the same as those posted online) and the ability to contact someone on a weekend. Does anyone have a picture of the separate harness that is referenced in this thread? Still trying to figure out if I received the wrong lights or just am missing a harness. Either way I can't use my truck at the moment unless I want to reassemble everything. Not happy.

Has anyone had issues with one or both headlamps flickering? I've noticed my driver's side flickering in the reflection off of stopped traffic in front of me.

if you have FM issues just let us know. If you dont then you dont need the harness

After receiving the LED harness, I will not even attempt an install until I also have the FM harness.

Frankly, if it’s even a possibility, I’d like to receive the harness. Why would I wait until taking everything apart and installing the lights only to find out that I need to put everything back together to wait for another harness and do it all over again? This harness should be standard with all lights that ship.
After receiving the LED harness, I will not even attempt an install until I also have the FM harness.

Dang, sorry to hear this! It's as messed up as the 1st Gen 15+ led harnesses. Trs was useless then, raptor retrofit was great but stopped selling because they were junk and headaches weren't worth it. 3 years of research and development hasn't taught these morons anything. Hope they get it worked out for ya all.
anyone reached out to ryan, he pioneered a fix the 1st Gen harness by making his own, forscan fixed the rest.

Posting this here for anyone that has factory LED equipped trucks, as I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure these things out. Maybe it will help get a resolution. I have emails into both The Retrofit Source and Lightwerkz (who I believe just keeps mimicking the responses I get from TRS). They both send the PDF of the install guide, which is complete garbage...only thing it has that the actual paper copy that came with the lights didn't have is the location of the adjustment screws. Anyway, here's the email I sent, along with pictures.
"I attempted to troubleshoot these again with no luck, so I'm attaching pictures with illustrations to hopefully explain what I'm seeing. The orange wire connector coming from the lights does not match up with the connector on the harness I was provided for factory LED equipped trucks. According to the install guide, the only connector that is not used is the one with the grey & black wires.
There is also 8 connectors that are not plugged into anything.
Still getting the hyper flashing on the dash, no hyper flash outside though. I have the turn signal toggle connected right now for normal signals instead of sequential, but the hyper flashing on the dash happens either way.
The DRLs are not changing in brightness/intensity, regardless of what position the light switch is in. They do not appear to be as bright as some of the pictures/videos I've seen on other trucks. From what I've read, they should be very bright when the headlights are off, then dim slightly when the headlights are on; however mine are a constant intensity no matter if the headlights are on/off. My truck does have parking lights set to run as DRLs through FORSCAN, not sure if that makes a difference though. I tried using the provided fuse tap for the DRLs, made no difference though in function and brightness. "
I will say, the light output on them is awesome, beam pattern is very clean and bright. Definitely an improvement over the factory LEDs. Really want them to work but I'm getting so damn frustrated with them and have now taken them on & off 4 times. Close to returning them and just keeping the factory units.

I spent some time on this today with TRS and you need to return Forscan to the factory DRL settings because that controls the DRL function. Also the three boxes on the back of the lights held on by philips screws are not needed for OEM led trucks so remove them and the unused wires will also be removed with them. The only wires left will be the ones coming out of the orange feedthrough and it should be easier to tell which ones are used on the harness. The boxes you will remove are for halogen conversions only. And for OEM led you don’t use the harness tap to the fuse box either.
Does anyone know the stock values to enter into FORSCAN to return the parking lights to normal?
