I also don't see the issue with the ford factory nav..i think very highly of it compared to the phone apps, has always worked well for me and it does not depend on a data connection to work

again if you hate the truck so much why did you buy it

Are you so simplistic that you think everything I mentioned would come out in a 10 minute test drive? And again, all vehicles have design flaws. That I can live with them does not mean they are still not design flaws. Do you work for Ford? Did you personally have a hand in designing the F-150? It sounds like you are taking this way too personally. For the record, I am not attacking you personally with my observations unless, of course, you are the one that approved the design flaws that I mentioned for production. Are you?

I will agree that having a 'mute' button for the radio is pretty dumb, but I have never run into a situation where I needed so badly to mute my phone call......if I am on the phone I am on the phone, if you need to be muted you don't need to be on the call lol (that is a joke for the record I realize sometimes we have to sit through conference calls regardless).

The other issues with not having hard buttons is a toss up, on one hand yes they would be nice on the other all of a sudden we have a dash/console with a million buttons which are now too small that you can't hit any of them. Call it a design flaw, call it a compromise, call it what you want but someone made the decision to go this direction at Ford.

......could be worse, my mother-in-law's Lincoln was built in the 1-2 year period that Ford said 'no hard buttons' and they are all touch screen / slider / bulls*&t to operate.

i will say the set up in my 2016 and 18 F150 is a nice compromise between the screen and buttons..my 2014 was WAY too cluttered with buttons

I may have glossed over this thread too quickly, to grasp the exact question.
I do know when I'm on the the phone the HVAC turns down and the Nav mutes itself while I'm on a call. That's impressive in my opinion.

You're wanting a mute for the phone on the wheel? Is that what I'm reading?
If your phone is in a holder. Isn't Mute right there on the call screen of your phone?
So you'll have to hit a button regardless.
I understand Ford's thinking in regards to muting only their system's software and hardware with the hvac.

I'll get chewed out for saying any negative about Apple, no doubt...
Yet, I feel Carplay isn't any better or worse than Android Auto.
Maybe some may find the interface more aesthetically pleasing, but it ends there as they function the same.
Both systems obviously are still going thru growing pains and have lots of room to improve.

I can't tell if you dislike all Android related hardware, but with Apple stating that bent IPads are "normal, don't worry about it" and IPhones that for the first time, stock is exceeding the demand. "Sell your shares now, they're going to drop fast and soon". So I'm hearing
A Galaxy, or a Google Pixel 3 and even an HTC U12, are as good as any iPhone hardware wise. That's just how I feel.

Please, Fordgate correct me if I missed your question totally.

And I am about to just plug the phone in and use the phone screen on my magnetic holder for that. Odd so many people here have such low standards! I am actually surprised they even bought a Ford you'd think with those standards any vehicle at all would have sufficed.
what do you hate about android auto? apple carplay is worse in nearly every way so that one isn't the answer either...

It is easier to say what I like. And that is that I can pipe Google Nav into the screen, Every single other thing about it I hate, I especially hate that it takes over my phone and I have to exit out of it to do anything once connected,
