More Boost Please

I didn't realize all that. Thanks for the info. However, u think in our measly 2.7 ecoboost this follows the same pattern? I think the guy that started the thread was saying he heard 2nd gear too was limited? That doesn't sound right but could be, right?

Without getting too drop into A/F ratios, timing etc ford "limits" the boost in such a manner it will prove safe for daily driving, towing and longevity not racing.

I agree with Unbroken ! Few things you could do is add global timing with spark advance on lower rpm's with a tuner but there's always greater chance for detonation or running leaner. You could also go to steeper rear end gears or looser converter .

Indeed it's the PCM limiting boost pressure. Probably best not to tamper with it. It reminds me of a Yamaha motorcycle that limited horsepower in 1st gear to prevent wheelies. The fix was to simply cut a pink wire....
From the manual:
"The turbocharger is equipped with a boost control system. The PCM (power control module) detects 1st or 2nd gear using engine speed and vehicle speed signals. This information is then used to adjust the wastegate actuator allowing it to open at a lower boost pressure. This prevents the turbocharger developing maximum boost in 1st and 2nd gears..."
