I spent most of my life in the northeast... what we call "heavy" up there doesn't amount to a summer shower in here in Florida.

I agree with that observation however the rain storm last week produced 2.5" in less then an hour! That's a pretty decent rain almost anywhere...........

If you look at the seal from above...you'll notice a gap in the seal where the water will pour in...

yes, there are 4 drains on the roof.... and you hit another great point! the issue is not only clogging, but many have discovered the drain tube to be disconnected from the tray.

one thing i did which has literally stopped all creaking is to slide the glass panel forward about 1-2 mm. it relieves the tension between the two panels, and for me, it has not creaked once in about 4 months..... i used to get creaks every day.
