Default Moonroof drain channels - video during heavy rain

It was raining this morning, and I slid open the moonroof sun shade so my son had something to watch while we waited in the truck for my wife. I've never had any problems with "leaks," but watching the water flow from the moonroof made me realize how easily rain could become a problem if the drain channels were to clog. Here's a quick video I took. Have a look at your moonroof next time it rains, it's pretty amazing:

Yep - working as designed per Ford! I put a dab of caulk on each side of mine and it stayed bone dry.

I am so glad I ordered my next truck to not have one of those glass panels. I was wondering where the water was that I hear after it rains.

I've had it since new, and I've driven through plenty of heavy storms, including Irma last year. I've never had evidence of a leak inside the cab, so I'd say it's working fine. This is just the first time I've looked up there with the shade pulled back in the rain.

Wow! It's scary to see how much water will get in the cab if the drain tubes plug. That is crazy!

I didn't want a moonroof either, but apparently ALL Platinums get them, even when they're listed as 'options' on the window sticker. At any rate, I'll probably never open it, so I hope it never leaks. If you don't open, it shouldn't get clogged, right? I assume there're drain tubes at all 4 corners, no? Does anybody know? I read when it leaks inside the cabin, it's by the A-pillars most of the times, and reflects on the carpet. Hope Ford checks that the drain tubes are properly installed. And also hope the damn roof doesn't start creaking, like the great majority of moon/sunroofs I've owned.

Just wait til the little mesh buffer up front starts to mold. Leaves a nice smell for You every rain. Specifically ordered my 2018 without it this round.
