Step 9: Reunite the inner housing with the outer housing. There is a locating hole that the turn signal light uses to keep it in place and screw passes through it to keep the housings together. Test fit it before you button everything up.

Step 10. Replace the 4 torx screws and snap the mirror glass back in place. Make sure you press in the center of the glass gently so all the friction clips on the back of the mirror glass are seated.

This is the best pic I have. Hope it's what you need.

Was hoping for one inside of the actual mirror but no worries it looks easy enough I can take it apart to look.

Hmm, I managed to remove one cleanly on my lariat, without breaking any tabs, when I got a bit close to the garage door frame while reversing out with the mirrors folded back . Popped straight back on......

Austin Ron: Why would you go through all that trouble when you are going to cut the tabs regardless? It could have been like a 5 minute job if you would have just ran a screwdriver or plastic edge around the cap and popped it off.

I'm not saying you can't pop them off by hand and get away with it. There are tabs on the cap side and tabs on the housing. The tabs on the housing are designed to snap lock the cap in place. If you just jerk the cap off you run the risk of stretching or tearing the tabs on the housing which you need to hold the caps on securely.

If you pry on the housing with a screwdriver you can damage or distort the housing.

It only takes about 15 mins a side to do it right. Why start jerking and breaking things on a brand new vehicle when it's not necessary???

I have a 15' XLT with standard mirrors not tow mirrors.
First I looked at the new OE chrome caps and noted the positioning of the 4 tabs.
Second I gripped the the black cap on drivers side and with the friction of my hand pulled forward noting the small gap that opened up.
Third I took the flat pointed end of one half of a wooden clothes pin and worked it into the small gap till I could hook my finger nails in a couple of places.
Fourth I popped one tab at a time till it slipped off.
Fifth slid chrome cap in place and snapped all tabs in.
Not even 5 minutes. No broken tabs. No marks on the mirror base or black caps. My finger nails were a little sore.

The chrome on the caps is PITA to take off. I am gonna try sand blasting tomorrow. If that fails, time to buy pre painted caps off eBay.
