Default Mild offsets / mud splash / tires throwing rocks?

I am looking at getting some mildly aggressive wheels.
i plan on 20x9 with 0 offset. And then running my oem stock Hankook ATMs that are 275/55/20.

my truck is already impossible to keep clean due it being black. I love black vehicles but tough to keep looking great all the time.

im slightly worried that running some more aggressive wheels that will make my tires stock out about 1/2” to 1” outside the fenders, that more dirt, mud, rocks etc will be kicked up along my doors and body even more than it already does.
i do have front weathertech mud flaps, but with a 0 offset wheel, I may have to take them off, or if I can keep them onmy tires will still stick past them anyway. I would prefer to keep my front mudflaps on.

what are your guys experiences with more dirt/scratches/chips etc with a more aggressive wheel? Would you say there is a noticable difference from stock?

This is 100% reality. Any time you put the tires outside the fenders, everything gets kicked up onto the body. I have black, so I hear ya. And in NE, I’ll wash it when it’s 40-45 out and then drive through a 10 ft section of water from melting snow and it’s completely destroyed. I’m looking at flares - partially for this reason, and because I like the look. My setup (in my sig) stick out about 1.25-1.5” at the top of the fender.

We all just deal with it with setups like that, honestly. But yea, you will kick dirt, mud, and water all the way up to the windows.

yea I hear you ... how much worse is it now vs your stock setup? Significantly more would you say? Thanks for the input man. Nothing worse than fresh wash and mile down the road right through melted snow, salty water.

I have been bouncing between 0mm offset and 18mm, and this is one of my variables in deciding.

Here’s a pic for comparison 18x9 0 offset on stock 275/65r18 tires

I’m currently running 20x9 +1 and I’ll get water/mud on the sides but it’s not bad. Never had a problem with rock scratches on this or on a previous truck with an even more aggressive offset. If you live down a gravel driveway or frequent gravel lots you may have an issue with rocks I suppose.

I've been in the market for the exact same issue. Aggressive tread, offset, black truck, and arriving home from the car wash with snow melt higher than the door handles. To be completely honest I'd like to wait until my truck rusts to toss on fender flares. But in the mean time is there a big enough mud flap out there that won't look goofy with normal fenders?

Looks great! Another reason why I do want to go with 0 offset of a 9" wide wheel; it fills up the wheel wells almost perfectly.
Nice truck.

What size tires are you running?
Do you think your current setup causes noticeably more dirt, etc. than your stock setup?

295/65r20 (35.1x11.77)

For everyday driving? Not at all.

If I get into some mud yeah I’ll get a little whipped up on the lower area of the panels near the tires but it’s honestly pretty minimal.

I put 18x9.5 +25 offset on mine with 275/65r18 and it was obvious that more filth was being thrown on the lower panels. It wasn’t crazy but enough that I decided to get mud flaps.
‘This pic was taken when I installed the mud flaps.
