Metra Speaker & Harness Adapters
Back in August of 2015 I installed Polk Audio DB Series speakers in my 2015 F150 XLT 302A package w/non-Sony stereo. I had to cannibalize the OEM speaker frames as neither speaker adapters nor harness adapters were available at the time. When I later installed a Kicker 5 channel amp & JL Audio subwoofer, the Polk DB series speakers were replaced with JL Audio C2 series speakers. This left me with a complete set of Polk DB651s (6.5") & DB691 (6x9") speakers that weren't being used.
Since then there have been several great threads by others mentioning using Metra's speaker adapters and harness adapters.
In this thread I will document installing the Polk Audio speakers in my 2016 F150 w/302A package w/non-Sony stereo using 72-5602 harness adapters and 82-5605 6.5" speaker adapters for the rear doors and next week I will illustrate using 82-5606 6x9" speaker adapters in the front doors. I can only assume using the 82-5607 adapters for 6.5" speakers in the front doors would be comparable.
This thread is not intended to critique the quality or choice of the speakers or the level of improvement in sound quality as that is mostly subjective.
The installation was very easy. Something that could be accomplished with minimal hand tools and mechanical skills. Suggest having either a soldering iron, which is the route I went or wire terminals and crimpers for attaching the harness adapters to the speaker terminals.
Items worth mentioning;

Items worth mentioning;
- I found the screws supplied with the 82-5605 speaker adapters were too small. They should have been at # 10 x 1/2" long. I still had the screws that were supplied with the Polk Audio speakers so this wasn't an issue.
- The 82-5605 speaker adapters lack an opening for the wire to pass from behind the speaker to the exterior of the speaker frame so it could attach to the OEM harness. This was easily resolved by drilling a 1/4" hole for the wires to exit the speaker adapter
- The 72-5602 harness adapters come with 4 wires. The F150 w/non-Sony stereo only requires 2 wires. I wanted a clean install and didn't want to leave the 2 unused wires. This was easily resolved by removing the 2 inner wires. To remove the 2 extra wires in the center of the connector I inserted a .030" round wire (torch tip cleaner) into the terminal receptacle and removed the 2 extra wires from each connector leaving only the 2 outer wires to be connected to the speakers. Speaker connections for the rear doors are: white to the negative (-) speaker terminal and white / black to the positive (+) speaker terminal.

Just a follow up on the front door speaker installation
The attached pictures are Metra's 82-5606 front door 6x9" speaker adapters. The adapters worked fine with Polk DB691 speakers. Once again the supplied screws were too small - should have been # 10 x 1/2" long.
Again I used the 72-5602 speaker harness adapters on the front doors. Once I removed the center 2 wires leaving only the outer wires. Speaker connections for the front doors are: white to the negative (-) speaker terminal and white / black to the positive (+) speaker terminal - same as the rear doors. All connections were soldered to the speaker terminals. The 72-5602 speaker harness adapters attached to the OEM harness connectors just fine.
One item worth mentioning, when using the 72-5602 harness adapters with the 82-5606 speaker adapters, the wires could have been about 2" longer, as my speaker terminals were 90* to the opening in the speaker adapters. As you can see in the first picture I had to extend the negative (-) speaker lead about 2".

Same adapters I have, but either I got a defective/wrong 82-5606 (they didn't come with any screws either) or the JBL's I have are slightly larger than a normal 6x9, or I'm just a dummy and was trying to attach them wrong.
But the supplier told Amazon to just credit me with no return required, so I have a free set now that I'll try and see if I was just doing it wrong later when I get home.

The footprint of the JL Audio speakers I installed in my 2015 F150 was also slightly larger that these Polk speakers. However I was able to use a Dremel tool and slightly enlarge the speaker adapter openings in the factory speakers frames I was using and they did fit.

I was able to get mine to fit somewhat. I was putting them in from the back side, not from the top. Now they sit down in there just fine but the holes still don't line up, but at least now I can just drill a new hole for the one that is way off.
