metallic rattling upon cold startup
Some feedback, my first truck , never heard this on any car i have ever owned, except maybe a mustang (it was 15 years ago) and the muffler went bad.
so, has anyone else heard upon a cold start up in the morning, a metallic rattling? once the engine warms up and throughout the day it doesn't occur. i have already changed the oil, new oil.
to me it sounds like a loose bolt, possible the exhaust?
any feedback from anyone, thanks for your time!!

My '05 with the 5.4 did it, but I believe it was just due to the oil pressure not getting up quickly enough and those engines were notorious for valvetrain noise anyways. Between the noisy valve train and the cam phasers, that truck would sometimes sound like a damn diesel at idle, but it always ran great for the 10 years I had it.
Not sure what your issue might be, but if it keeps occurring, no reason why you can't have your dealer take a look/listen.

I recommend giving your dealers a ring about this. Pass along your mileage; I'll see how I can help your rigs stay quiet.

Mine does the same thing, I was gonna make the dealer start a new 2.7 on the lot for me at my 10k mile service to see if it was just mine or not.
Terrible for an almost 50k truck to sound like a piece of junk on start up, its almost embarrassing.
Sounds like its toward the middle of the truck/back of engine. Im praying its not a turbo problem, but I probably won't have this truck past the warranty period.
My first ford...probably my last.
