Mine just recently started a slight clunk, stop at a stop sign and a turn to the right, it will clunk (not over and over like the provided audio), another turn to the right and it won't. Turn to the left and get a clunk, turn again to left, no clunk but to the right it'll do it again.
So here is what I think it is. I can open the tailgate a bit and slide it left and right and hear what I think is the clunk sound. When you look and the plastic bushing on the right side of the truck where the tailgate pivots it makes me think it may need a shot or two of grease to keep it moving sideways so freely. I'll see if that the fix for me.

My truck thunks on left turns but not right turns. Driveline binds occasionally on downhill stops and thuds on release (it used to do it every time).

But wait, there's more.......I have 2 or 3 powertrain rattles, pedal vibration, so many things loose in the door panels and dash I couldn't count them. A 1980's Hyundai probably made less noises.

I have an appointment at the dealer on Wednesday. I'll update with the outcome, but if the dealer gives me the round around it seems like I will be trying 2AF150GA's method of spraying down the leaf spring isolators with some fluid film.

It works. If I would have known that is all I had to do I wouldn't have had the 1 leaf pack replaced. the side that was replaced sits about .5" higher than the other side, lol.

My '16 has a few clunks. One is lash in the drive line (some people claim fuel tank). Come to a stop and when it shifts from 2nd to 1st while sitting still, it clunks and you can feel it. Just everything going from tension to free, and back to tension. The clunk as stated in this thread happens to me every time I drive over something that puts torsion on the rear axle. Meaning pushing only one wheel up. Mainly when I cross the rain gutter pulling into my driveway. Since I can reproduce it at will and at slow speed, when it warms up, I'm going to mount my go-pro under there and watch a few things to see if I can pinpoint it, then deal with it. Certainly does sound like something sticking and popping free.

Hey all,

Just received a call from the dealer and the rep stated that they drove the truck around and were able to reproduce the noise I complained about. They added that they haven't seen it before and believe it is coming from both spring packs and shocks in the rear. They don't have the parts in stock and stated that they would receive them this Friday, so I will update you all with the results once everything is replaced.

Spray Fluid Film between here. Get a flat head screwdriver and pry the 2 apart and shoot some in between. Do front and back on both leaf packs. Within a day or so the clunking will go away. I had to spray the new leaf pack about a month after it was installed because it was clunking. Save yourself the hassle and time and knock it out in 5 minutes. You'll have to do it away with the new leaf pack anyway.

Since the parts are in order and they provided me a rental meanwhile, I will go ahead and let them replace the parts stated above. However, I will definitely spray them down if the noise continues with the new parts.

Hey all,

I'm happy to report that after a day of receiving the truck back it seems that the noise is completely gone. Dealer replaced both spring sets and shocks, they were unable to see anything wrong with the set that they replaced and had no idea what was wrong with it except that it was indeed making a ton of noise. Anyways, only time will tell if this is a permanent fix or if the noise will return with the new set.
