Default Metal in oil at 8,700 miles. 2017 f-150 5.0

Not happy. I have a 2017 f-150 5.0 I did my first oil change at 3000 miles. never towed with anything. Had that done at the dealer. No mention at all. 2nd oil change done at 8200 miles 3rd oil change at 10,100 miles.

I had a 2nd oil change does by me using OEM Ford oil and filter at 8200 miles. I did oil in garage and noticed oil on top of my oil pan just sitting on top. stupid me didn't filter the oil to see if there was more in the oil catcher. I didn't cut open the filter. I asked some friends some said normal break in and some said not normal at all. I also noticed the oil had a bunch of glitter like gold in it. The 3 pieces I found we more like shavings. I do not know if it was metallic or aluminum. I was like hmmm.

It started to get to me and my truck still ran strong and no issues at all. I took the truck in to ford and they drained oil and filtered oil and cut open filter to find and I quote . " It had a small magnetic sliver in it. I cut the filter open and found a few small pieces of magnetic particles and 1 small magnetic sliver of metallic metal. did not find gold glitter like oil"

What should I do... All I keep thinking is at 40k miles something will happen... Is metal bad? It metal still at 8200, and 10,101 miles normal? Should I contact dealer and or ford again? Please help...

Also the 3 pieces I found originally were like a thumb nail fingernail clipping. 2 of them were like shavings of metal and one was a little chunk.. I should have taken pictures and kept them but I did not. I can always cut open my plastic oil catcher and see if there is some still in there..

Drive it until next change then send sample to "Blackstone" to be analyzed, they will identify any contaminants, meanwhiile it's under warranty.
Could well be some trash left over from casting and the filter will remove it but better safe than sorry.

You do have an engine warranty to 60K, so if something happens at 40K you are covered.

Sounds good. That is kinda my plan. My plan is to get it all documented which is already done and my next oil change will be done by me. It will be filtered and cut open:

It is possible for the very first oil filter to have some debris in it, unlikely though since the engine blocks and head are washed very well after milling. As mentioned, get a Blackstone, and if they detect high iron, or aluminum content in the oil, then take it to Ford.

If the second or third filter has particles in it, that would make me very suspicious.

Blackstone- for $28USD (I think that's the individual pricing) money well spent and peace of mind. The best documentation you can have to show Ford if or before something shoots craps and before your stuck on the side of the road.

Any update on this?

I have a '20 5.0 and found flakes as well as shavings in my catch can, with only 5,000 miles. Performed first oil change at 1,000. I will check my magnetic drain plug next oil change, but I'm not expecting good news.
Thanks

Sounds like a warranty claim on a new motor.
I'd get it documented right away. You've already got one "oil change at home" working against you. Take action before you find a major problem.

This is actually very normal. My father is an oil dork and cuts all of his filters open after each OCI on all 4 of his cars. His 2013 BMW 330 regularly has some metal in the filter element (bought new, now with 100k). Blackstone OCA always comes back as normal. Aircraft mechanics generally cut open their filters as well and most notice metal in every OCI.
