Default max trailer tow pckg - Rougher ride?

I'm looking to order a new super crew 4x4 and considering the 3.5 eco with max tow. I don't tow that often, but I wanted the tow package mainly for the trans cooler. I also wanted the 36 gallon fuel tank and 3.55 locking rear end, so it seems like a no brainer to do the max tow package (that includes all of this for $1300). The other option is to go with the regular tow package at $1k and add the other stuff on (almost $2k combined). You also get an engine oil cooler with the max tow which seems like a good idea here in Texas.

My only concern is that it says "This configuration will also come equipped with max springs" and I don't want it to ride like a 3/4 ton truck. Are there really different springs with the max tow package? If so, does anyone have feedback on how it rides vs. the regular springs?

There is no difference in ride quality. You can verify by test driving them back to back. The max tow package just makes sense!
I did not have it on my last F-150, but made sure to get it on this one.

Thanks for the feedback. Hoping to get order in tonight, just need to decide on color. Leaning silver, but maybe the platinum white.

I have one with max tow and one with max tow + HDPP. The HDPP rides stiffer/harsher.

18, Lariat S Crew with max tow, had a 16 501a Lariat with trailer tow. 18 seems to handle better, and maybe a firmer ride because of bigger front sway bar, different shocks and 20" wheels . Would not go back to the 16.

Mine's an older truck, but I have max tow. I have driven other trucks from the same year / configuration other than no max tow, and really couldn't tell a difference in ride quality. But mine does feel better towing.

The max tow does have a stiffer rear spring from what I have learned on this forum. They have 4 different spring rates. A B C D. C is max tow. D is HDPP. As well as the 2018 has an even stiffer max tow spring than 17. If i recall they went from 3800 to a 4100 capacity rear spring for 18 max tow. Reason is they upped the tow capacity for 18. All this info should accurate but don't quote me.

My 18 max tow certainly isn't buttery smooth but it rides nice enough. It's pretty good over small road imperfections. Hit a railroad crossing or a bad piece of road and you can get bounced around pretty good though. I'll be doing rear shocks soon to help but its really just the characteristics of these basic leaf springs so I don't have high expectations. I went for max tow for the same reason. Great package. I'd do it again. Just set your expectations. Greater capacities come with lesser ride quality unloaded. It rides better all around with a couple hundred pounds in the bed.
