Default the "M" on the shift indicator

if you have a column shift selector does the "M" mean anything? the best i can figure out from the owner's manual is that it is a function on a console shifter, but can't find anything about it on a column shifter..

Mine (2018) works the same as my previous floor shifter 2016 did... put it in "M" and use the +/- buttons on the shifter stalk to shift manually.

Yeah, it is the same as the "M" on center console shifter. It puts the transmission into "Manual" mode. It allows you to shift up/down manually.

It definitely sucks on the column shifter, as the +/- buttons are at a weird spot.

Agreed. Makes me consider doing the "raptor" steering wheel mod.

The first time i accidentally put the shifter in M instead of D immediately thought i had a stuck 1st gear transmission problem.
Had instant visions of calling a hook and then dealing with a dealership fiasco.

Live and learn.

I agree it's awkwardly placed on the column shifter, but it's not really meant to be used to ''shift'' like a manual transmission. It's designed to stay on 1 specific gear, let's say, when you're towing something heavy or climbing stuff. Don't use it as a shifter from 1 to 6 (or 10.) lol.

Really? I manually shift every time I tow. Especially in hilly country. Only on flat ground I put it tow haul mode.

I concur ^

I shift manually in the mountains sometimes.

But, when pulling, I do use the haul mode.

Pecked out on my iPhone.

A guy at work told me his truck had a "Mountain" mode. He said it was like 4wd Low, and was "really fast". He didn't like it much because it seemed like his truck was going to blow up.

I lol'd.

What is the gear ratio on that 5.0L? I have the truck in sig and tow in hilly terrain. Looking forward to hear from you.
