MN, yes traded my precious 2.7. Came home after wife started saying she wanted a 5th wheel and she shows me a Grand Design 5th wheel to which I say, “my truck is not rated to pull that” to which she replies, “get a new truck then”! The rest is history as they say. Now have 17 3.5 Max Tow with 36 gallon tank, Airlift 5000 airbags and Airlift auto level system. The new truck pulls my 31’ 5th wheel as if it is not there up the mountain pass to my house that sits at about 9000’. That said, I would still be driving my 2.7 if not for that as I loved that truck! The new 3.5 is stout stock but I am pretty sure my 2.7 with the Livernois tune was stouter! Hoping they can do the same for this 3.5. Not concerned about tranny tuning as the 10 spd is pretty good as it is, in fact their are guys with 5 star asking them for their performance tune without their tranny tune. I loved my Livernois tune in my 2.7 but if the rumors are true that they are going to want me to pay again, well I might have to consider someone else. Keeping you word is a big deal to this retired Army vet and part of the hook to pay more to them was the fact that it was tunes for life from vehicle to vehicle. If that is not true then I have no reason not to consider a non-proprietary tuner and other people’s tunes that reputable.

Congrats on the new 3.5 Wes – I’m confident this one will serve you as well or better than your 2.7. Also, I understand your points on Livernois standing by their lifetime tune support statement. I did talk to them and it sounds like there will be an upgrade path where they’ll credit back $150. You’ll need to send in your current MyCal device at which point they will send it off to their manufacture to update the internals (board, etc.) and basically refurb it so that it will work w/ the new PCM. If I understood correctly, this process is expensive which limits their ability to provide a bigger credit. What’s interesting is the 2018 2.7 has an even different PCM and may also need new hardware updates but sounds like they are still doing the necessary R&D to know for sure.

At the end of the day it’s frustrating but for me personally I would still choose to go w/ LMS and appreciate that they offer some level of credit. You could also consider selling your current MyCal and probably come out a little further ahead than the credit. Anyway, keep us posted on which way you decide to go. Would love to hear your thoughts on how the 3.5 responds to the tune compared to your 2.7.

Just so people have a dyno reference. When I dyno'd my 2016 2.7 it put down 250whp and around 300ft/lbs

Why would anybody tow with a tune without transmission tuning? 5star addresses the clunking in Ford's strategy, and disables the stupid auto start circuit. They also keep the tranny out of the upper gears so soon to avoid lugging. On top of that 5star's engine braking strategy works great.

Johndeere: not sure why as I do not have their tunes but not only have I seen it posted other places, when I called 5 Star the guy recommended a 91 perf/tow, a 91 perf/tow wo tranny mapping, and perf tune as the 3 I should get as part the ngauge pkg. I am guessing some do not like the mapping or more likely there are some hard shift points and they did not wait long enough for the ecu relearning process and wanted it out. A towing tune is a must for me but I still have to decide if I am staying with or leaving Livernois.

We did just release our tuners for the new 3.5l F-150s! As of now it is just an engine tune as we are still working on trans calibration for the tow tunes that will be available in the future! If interested feel free to give me a call at 313-561-5500 extension 104 or ask for cody and i will be glad to assist you!

Checking out tuners for my 2017 3.5EB, 10-speed. Any update on Livernois and trans calibrations? Also, looking at LMS website I only see tuner for 3.5L Raptor (https://www.livernoismotorsports.com...ibrator-tuners). Does this tuner also work for 3.5LEB other than Raptor?

Update: Got it figured out. No response necessary.
