line x

I really like the ford logo in the factory spray on bed, but the dealership strongly recommended against it for a line x. Said the factory liners cost the same as the local line x but the line x was a better product. Got mine done in black on bronze fire, I actually like the contrast between colors more than if I color matched, I think.
I ended up getting the line x for free essentially; I put 500 down on an order but ended up buying a truck off the lot before it was built and they applied the 500 towards both the downpayment and the line x install, which was pretty awesome.

First question from the new guy....
For those of you that had your 2015s line-x'd did you take the factory bed rail caps off? The local guy here says that the rail under the cap has a corrugated ( wave shape ) formed into the metal that's about a 1/4" deep and that it would look really bad if he pulled the cap, and lined it over the top of the bed rail.
Ultimately I'd like to get rid of the plastic caps completely, but he told me that those caps are held on with clips and that there would be extra holes in the top of the rail if the caps weren't put back on.
Can anyone verify the "corrugated" comment and how the caps are held on?
I could tell him to just go up to the bottom of the plastic cap but that just seems cheezy.

Had one sprayed in my 2015. It is my third. First in another F150screw and the other was some spray on my Jeep Wrangler. Never a problem and love the protection.

Are you saying your Line-X shop does something different?

He'll take everything off and replace it again, except he's not too thrilled about removing and then putting the caps back on. He says that the thickness of the Line-X may not let the caps be installed again. He's being careful since they haven't done many 2015s yet I guess.
I wasn't willing to be his guinea pig so I told him to just go to the bottom edge of the cap.
Thanks for all the replies.

Absolutely no reason to take the bed caps off. Climb in your bed and look for yourself. I can also 100% guarantee that removing the bed caps will break off some of the retainers. So for those that say your line x guy removed your bed caps, your bed caps have broken retainers. If the very front or very rear retainers are the ones that broke, your bed caps are buggered on with an adhesive or double sided tape.

i had line-x sprayed in my 05 f250. it works great. beat the crap out of it with tools, desert stuff, wood, scrap metal, you name it and i threw it in there and it never chipped or game away in any way.
