Default Limited steering wheel upgrade

Just completed the steering wheel upgrade last night on my '15 SCAB 502a (reference thread https://www.f150forum.com/f118/steer...emoval-361944/ ) to the "Limited" smooth leather wheel, and WOW!, what a difference!!

This wheel is sweet. It has a much nicer and more high end feel than the stock wheel, and it slips through the hand after cornering much more comfortably. The stitching offers just a slight amount of "traction" for the fingers, yet smooth as the wheel is gripped. In my opinion this is easily worth the $280 price tag for the increase in comfort and the more luxurious feel. However, having said all that, I'm not sure I would recommend this upgrade for a "work" truck. The surface seems a bit "delicate" for gloves or dirty hands. So, I would reserve this upgrade for a truck that is not going to be treated harshly. I don't think it would wear as well as the stock wheel if abused.

The installation took about 15 minutes, after waiting the initial 30 minutes after disconnecting the battery to power down the air bag, so it's an easy mod, and one I get to enjoy every time I grip the wheel.

Congrats Bret! Looks awesome! This is definitely on the short list for my next mod. I'm still confirming if there will be any issue for existing trucks that do not have a heated steering wheel - Specifically, not sure if there will be an issue of not plugging in the heating element wire that comes on the new limited wheel.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing the info!

Thank you for the review. I don't mind the standard wheel in my Lariat, but sounds like this is definitely an upgrade. I would have suspected the cost to be a bit higher (not that its cheap), especially for OEM parts.

Excellent. I am hoping to do the same with my Lariat, but also considering a raptor steering wheel

Can you swap just the trim part? I have an 302 XLT, and my Steering wheel has all the options other than adaptive cruise and heated wheel, but I would love the silver trim on my wheel. It is currently just black.
