Which lift kit
Will you post a picture of your truck at full turn where the tie rod and coil spring would be in contact, because I am the guy he is referring to. I was told by rough country themselves and the installer that it would not harm anything because it is at full turn and only contacts the boot a little. So I would like to see how far your coil spring is above the tie rod. They did a realignment and a retorque on the lift on all the bolts do the popping noise is gone for now. But it still touches the boot of the tie rod. As the picture below shows.
I will snap a picture this weekend. I don't think you should be too concerned about it rubbing if that is at full lock. The rubbing looks minimal. Also, that is great news the popping issue was resolved. I think a lot of people try to blame issues on parts and not on the installation of the new parts. When I had my lift installed they over tightened both IWE's leading to premature failure. I took the truck to the ford dealer and paid for 2 new ones to be installed b/c they said the IWE's are not covered by warranty after the lift. The Ford mechanic installed 2 new ones incorrectly by over tightening the axle nuts. Ford was persistent in stating that the knuckles were out of tolerance causing the IWE's to not disengage, thus leaving the hubs in a locked position. So, it went back to the shop who installed my lift and he contacted RC. RC said this is a very common problem with F150 lifts/levels b/c no one reads the instructions on how to reinstall the IWE's. They provided clear instructions on how to reinstall the IWE's. To date and 5k miles no more issues.
Alright thanks man yea I had to take mine back to the installer because the dealership that I bought the truck from with the lift on it said they couldn't do anything. I may have to end up just saving money until I can go with a fox 2.5 coilover or something of that sort. Just worried the coilover will be overkill for a daily.
Well, I guess I put my foot in my mouth. If I completely lock my steering it is similar to the pics posted. I guess I never noticed it, but since it is just the bellows boot and I have 10k miles on the truck/lift and it still looks new I'm not too concerned. The negative offset on my wheels really don't allow me to go to full lock either b/c they will rub the crash bars.
Got my 6" zone kit installed. Not a bad job. Have some bora 1.75" spacers coming and hope I like how it looks with them. If not may put 20x9 fuel maverick in anthracite or black with machines spokes on it with +1 offset. Will be keeping my 285/65 tires for a while they don't have but about 15k on the and have plenty of life left
if anyone is interested in a set of BORA 1.75" spacers I just got mine in today but have already picked up a set of 20x10 wheels so I don't need these anymore. I have 255 in them and will take 240 shipped
Pro Comp all the way. This is my second FX6 with this kit on it, and I have had no problems at all with the ride. My white 2012 FX6 was a great truck. Ran smooth and looked great. My new 2016 Black FX6 rides even nicer. Again No issues!!!!
