I requested a buyback on my 2018 due to the drivability issues I've been experiencing. My truck was out in for service 3x and a total of 19 days, with one visit being 16 days by itself. Ford said the vehicle is running as designed and that there was nothing to fix. It was diagnosed with cylinder 1 and cylinder 6 misfires, but no CEL to tell them what to fix, so it's normal! The acceleration hesitation was diagnosed as turbo lag. Except, I have a V8. What a bunch of idiots. My request was denied. I spoke with the service manager at my dealership and she told me that I didn't qualify for the buyback because the rules in Florida state that the vehicle had to be repaired 3x for the same issue, but they never fixed anything. The second part of Florida's law states 15 consecutive days out of service. So I had that, right? Wrong. Because Ford said nothing was wrong with my truck, the dealer never submitted anything for warranty, so Ford has no "repair" record showing 16 days out of service.

My only option now is to call the BBB or the State's Attorney General and ask for assistance. A lemon law lawyer agreed with Ford and said if they didn't "repair" anything, I don't qualify.

Have you tried another dealer? That would be the very first thing I would do if I got a response like you did. There is no reason to stick with those jokers. Move and see what another dealer says.

I have contacted another dealer. It's now in Ford's system that there is nothing wrong with my truck, so the Autonation dealership I contacted said they won't be able to help. The Autonation dealer was the one that found the cylinder 1 and cylinder 6 misfires, but they had nothing to go on to fix it. So I went to another dealership, that had the truck for 16 days, and it was deemed normal. That second dealer is the one that didn't report the service to Ford, but did make notes on the service records that the truck is operating as designed when brought in for this complaint. So, any dealership I go to will see the notes that my complaint is unfounded, because Ford said so.

At a minimum I would contact ford corporate and request a factory powertrain warranty extension. They gave me one for my 2018 because the dealership couldn’t fix my balance issue causing the truck to vibrate. I had a 3rd party tire shop fix it and when I complained about the dealership wasting my time, I requested a warranty and corporate was happy to give me 7 year 100k powertrain.

Good news is you have 2 years from date of purchase to file for lemon law... so hopefully the issue either happens again OR the truck is fine and you get a free warranty...

So I’m assuming you had a tire/wheel issue. Did you have it road force balanced? I’m thinking of doing the same. Curious what your symptoms were

I eventually had it road force balanced at a private tire shop because Ford did not have one. I had a slight vibration at ~ 75mph.

After road force balance the vibration was much better but two of my Goodyear’s were at the limit - 30lb and 34lb. Tire guy said they will never be smooth but they aren’t bad enough to fight with ford for a replacement.

I requested an extended warranty and Ford was happy to give me one.

So I found out my dealership hasn’t been providing all my service dates and this is why I’m being denied. I thought ford could see all the info but apparently not. Ford said they only provided service for 11 days as per dealership. Well, that blew my mind. I have all the paperwork which I had to send them today showing my car was serviced for 41 days total. I had to drop it off again the other day due to iwe repair and my cruise control not turning off, brake lights not working, brake booster failure(again). Wish me luck

How does Ford determine the value of my truck? MSRP? What I paid? Other method?

Should I expect to be reimbursed for all the sales tax based on the MSRP of my truck?

I would like to order one but they told me I need to be approved for that. So now I am trying to find out the total amount they will reimburse me or apply to a new truck, assuming I can order one. The person I am dealing with told me it is easier to be reimbursed than to order a new truck. That seems a little backward to me, but it is what it is I guess.

When they reimbursed me for my 2017 Mustang, they took the purchase documents to see what I put down as a down payment, purchase price of the truck, the taxes on the purchase (be careful of this one), the interest paid each month and the number of payments made. They then asked for receipts for anything added to the vehicle. They will try to reduce the accessory price by 25%, so be mindful of that. Regarding the taxes, they paid me back on the taxes that were on the purchase agreement. The problem with that was I traded a vehicle in on the Mustang, so the taxes on the purchase agreement are only for the difference in what I traded and what I now owed on the new car. A simple example would be a $40k purchase, with a $30k trade at 6% tax would show the tax due as $600. When they are buying you out of the vehicle, they need to provide you with the full tax. I argued that I already paid the taxes on that example $30k trade, They still owed me $1800 in tax benefit because of my $30k trade in. So the total tax on a $40k purchase would be $2400. They TRIED paying me only the $600 difference that the purchase agreement showed.

You should get back everything you paid into the car, and in reality, more, because they are paying you back your interest paid on the loan. Be sure to get all of your tax money and non depreciated accessory money. Don't forget that they will hit you with a mileage deduction though.

Thanks. What do they hit you up for in mileage charges?
I thought they based the value of what you are turning in on the MSRP?
