Lemon Law

Well off the phone with the RAV dept. As intimated in this thread, it is not going to be a pleasant process.
All of them and none of you it sounds like.

Man, I hold you in high regard. The tenor of my last conversation with them was "You're gonna get what you're gonna get, we chose the color, etc" Didn't sound like they were willing to budge an inch in my favor for anything. It was my damn fault for buying a defective truck. That $1200 you put into the truck since you bought it with those accessories? Ha Ha.

The rest, tell them what you want or tell them to go pound sand. The law is the law, and it is on your side and ford knows this. In NY a lemon law lawyer is free. If Ford doesn’t play nice than go to litigation - you will win and Ford has to shell out the attorney fee.
The ball is literally 100% in your court. Make sure they play your game.

I like the way you put that. You’re 100% right. They keep playing games with me too. They know they don’t have a leg to stand on so they’re ignoring me. If I don’t hear by Monday I’m contacting a lawyer.

I played their game right up until the end knowing the ball was in my court the whole time. I suppose they could have found a replacement and demanded I take it, but I figured I would explore the option if it was presented. I could always say No. Or, I would have demanded they reduce the MSRP difference because it wasn’t the right color.
What I found was they called the shots, especially in the beginning, because they don’t want to do the leg work in the beginning. They want to either scare you away or scare you into submission. It wasn’t until we got down toward the end we began to make compromises. And once my new truck was delivered and was sitting on my dealers lot, now I was really in control because I could still can the whole thing and they are stuck with a special order truck AND a branded lemon titled truck. Lose, lose for Ford and they knew it.

This whole thing presents me with a "do-over" possibility. They did a dealer search 1000 miles out, and surprise of surprises, no screw hdpp's exist.
I'm really torn. I've not driven a 350 diesel yet, the increased ownership costs, insurance goes up $400 a year, yada yada, just not sure I want to own a diesel. I have driven a 250 6.2, and the test drive mileage was 8.8 or maybe 8.2mpg. Other than that, nice. I've driven my lemon now for 150 miles and so far, it has not gone in it's "I'm confused" routine. They may have actually fixed it this time. And I like the truck. Part of me says to take them up on a 8 year premium warranty, part of me says order the new one, it will be a year newer. And have the rear gate step. (Weird, unlike any other vehicle, they have gone down in price due to package content - I have to add stuff like 2 tone paint to match the MSRP of my lemon)
At any rate, I am going to drive *everywhere* this weekend and see if I can get the truck to go into its fail mode. If it does, no brainer, ordering a new one early next week. Just wish I knew for sure what I wanted. First world problem I suppose. I have a feeling a 350 6.7 is built to go the distance, yet things like death wobble make me nervous, along with all the costs being higher.... I don't actually own a camper yet, but on the short list. A 350 diesel lets you pick out anything under 35' or so, fifth wheel, whatever. But I have a stupid long commute to work, a lot of truck to go 130 miles with just my fat *** as a payload.

I been pleasantly pleased with how the RAV folks are handling my buy back. The agent assigned will usually respond to an email the same business day or the next. And when she has something complicated to tell me she will call. Two times I picked out a truck (was not 100% happy with either) and both times the Ford dealers who had the truck screwed me. In the long run this benefited me as RAV was more agreeable to negotiate and permit me to order exactly what I wanted.
I will not post the terms of my replacement truck until I pick it up but will say so far am very happy so far. With luck my new truck will be in my garage by mid Jan 2019.
