Seems like you're gaming the system here. Personally I don't care for that and it results in higher prices for everyone. There's no free rides.

I'm 100% there are real lemons. I wonder how many case though are just buyer remorse?

Mike,

I drove my lemon because it took ford 4 months to build my new truck. I sure as hell wasnt going to ride my bicycle. My truck was lemoned for the frozen door handles. You can call it a scam - 18 trips to the dealer and 70 days without my truck is quite the scam and I paid 52k for the scam!

Just because it’s a lemon doesn’t mean it is not driveable. I had to drive to work holding my door closed probably 20 times. I almost fell out once too.

Ford waived my mileage charge because I went with the replacement option. If I chose the buy out Ford would have charged me for the mileage over 12,000 miles as per NY.

In my opinion, we as customers should be benefiting from these POS trucks. I always held up to my end of the bargain: I did my research, bought the “best truck in America” made all my payments on time, did my service on time... it is Ford that did not live up to their end of the bargain. They provided me with a truck that leaked and couldn’t keep a door closed. I feel I should be compensated... time is money and the amount of time I spent at the dealership, not to mention the time away from my family, AND the missed earnings when I had to say NO to overtime because I did not have transportation? Yeah, No. Id rather have those 6 months of my life back, HOURS AND HOURS at the dealership and HOURS on the phone... I’m getting PTSD just thinking about it.

The worst part? My 18 still affected by door handle recall. I am anxiously awaiting winter and you know the first instance of problem I’m driving right to Ford, parking the truck, and telling them to keep it for 30 days so I can get my money back this time and go buy something else!

I filed for lemon law at the end of October. I received a call from Ford the day after they received the paperwork and then they called me again today. They want to schedule the appointment for the Ford engineer to look at my truck. They want to schedule it out to late December. I may need to check with the attorney general on this. In Florida, you pay for the mileage until you and Ford agree to the buy back.

I first notified Ford of my issues at 400 miles. The dealership pushed me off until 1000 saying the trans had to learn my driving style. Took it in at 1100 and the dealer did nothing with it for 2 days, so I had to reschedule. Called another dealer and scheduled 2 weeks out due to their overbooked service. Was told by that dealer that I would have to pay the diagnostic charges if they didn't find anything, so I just left. Another two weeks go by and I get into a 3rd dealership that diagnosed an issue, but didn't fix it because they had no idea what to fix. They told me to let the trans relearn because they did the PCM update. I was at 1900 miles by that time. The truck got worse and at 3400 I took it in again to the first dealership. They had the truck for 16 days and did absolutely nothing. I was then told by Ford that there's nothing wrong and that taking it to another dealer, I'll be told there's nothing they can do. I tried a few options with Ford corporate and also my local dealership, but I got nowhere, so mileage kept adding up.

Finally the attorney general said I had a valid case. Unfortunately, I listened to someone on this board and tried something on my own, and it made things better for awhile. I'm now at 7800 miles, the truck is back to sucking and Ford asks me to wait over a month for my final repair attempt. I'll be around 9500 miles at that point and I'll have to pay the $.32/mile charge. Almost seems like a way for Ford to still collect from me, even if they do have to lemon law my truck! I can't wait to get rid of this headache.

Last week I was asked to provide a copy of a order. My guess was they needed to get the exact dollar value of the truck I want to order. Was also asked to provide a letter from my dealer saying they searched and could not find one already built and in stock (they couldn't find one). Furthermore they asked I agree not to ask for a rental car during the building of the new truck, be responsible for all upgrade charges, and would not request a refund once the truck was ordered and must take possession of it once it arrives.
Accomplished everything they asked and agreed to their terms early last Friday afternoon.
Then nothing, zip, nada.

It has been almost 2 months since the buy back was approved and now I feel like there hasn't been any forward progress other than me submitting a whole bunch of paperwork.
But hey, it should be finalized soon, right ?

Holy crap sounds like hell. I just brought my truck back in today for my differential cover weeping and the vibes again. Hopefully this time they give me my buyback after this fix.

I swear to Christ you can't make this stuff up. Thursday evening received an email telling me I was authorized to order a replacement truck. Went to my dealers this morning to place the order and he wouldnt order it unless he was promised it would not come out of his allocations. Called my RAV rep and asked her to call the dealer. She did, then she called me back and told me dealer will not place the order unless he gets something in writing saying this truck would not come out of his allocations.
Of course, the person who can put this promise in writing will not be back to work until Monday.
Patience, patience, and more patience.

Any bets if the order will be submitted on Monday? lol.

Perfect opportunity to upgrade to the 250. Superduty seems bulletproof. Only downfall is the MPG.

I had the exact same truck as you. 2017 F150 XLT SCAB, 10 speed and upgraded it for the exact same truck in a F250. They charged me nothing and even kept my original loan via a substitution of collateral.

Mine was lemon lawed for an engine knock that put it in the shop for 5 visits and 57 days. For no cost, go for the F250!!!

There about to hit the 30 day mark with me. I don't even have 2000 miles on it yet. Might start the process, I'm in NY also. It is a little confounding for me, I bought the HDPP, have a need for an HDPP, and they are RARE. That means, if they approve a replacement vehicle, I would have to go for a stripped out 350 diesel. (Because I do not want the huge v8 gasser mileage. Not that the diesel will be stupendous.)

All in all, I am a pretty sad panda.

Not exactly no cost for the upgrade. But I am ordering a F250 Lariat. I want my next truck to be my last and I think the best chance is with a normal V8 and a proven 6 speed. Fingers crossed.
