SL1's might be assembled in the US, but of course not every part is made in that DD factory... Wiring, resistors, capacitors, chips etc etc Just like how a vehicle might be "assembled" in one country, but all the parts that they assemble come from other countries.


Of course there's no real way to tell real Phlips chips from fakes other that how they look and perform, unless you tear one off a bulb and look for signs with a magnifying glass or something, but from what I can see, they are identical and seem to perform like Philips Luxeons, so I can only assume they're legit. To be honest, with something as small as that, and with no markings on them, there no way to tell if ANY company is really using legit ones or copies, other than what they claim.


My entire point for starting this thread however, was to find decent LED bulbs at a fair price that maintain the cutoff, don't blind other drivers, and are a good improvement over the stock halogens. In that aspect, it' s a success in my eyes, as well as several others who are happy with them on this thread. And I've been using them for a year now, in all kinds of hot and cold weather with no problems whatsoever.


My only curiosity now is seeing if someone else is going to try them and compare them to see how they stack up against bulbs 1/3rd the price. Customer service etc aside, I care about the performance, that's all. If one of my bulbs burn out/die, I can replace it 4 more times before reaching the same price point, but at this point I've been using them a year and only paid $50 for the pair. I also have DRL's and 86k on my truck, so they're on whenever my truck is on, which is a lot.

^^^^I agree 100% with the fact that the bulbs you have and the bulbs I have are a very viable option over any available halogen. Hands down, these blow them away. I agree on price point also, which is why I will rock these until one burns out and decide from there on what to do.

6500k is a little too high for me and the color temp on the SL1s is 5700K.

Has anyone used bulb that is 5500k or lower?

4x4 has the G9's listed at 5700k. They use Z-ES chips like the BPS bulbs and the SL1's, but are more pricey ($125) than the BPS bulbs that blackboost is using.

I've been talking with a manufacturer about buying a set of 10 or 20 pairs, and these are the exact same type I have and others on this thread have. Buying a box means they are willing to do custom sets. They have 3000k LED chips and 6500k chips. They said they can mix them to get different colors. So each side of a bulb can have 2x 6500k and 1x 3000k LED, or, 1x 6500k and 2x 3000k. Mixing yellow and blue light makes white, so it's just a matter of trying it out...


I'm trying to get them to make one of each configuration and send me some results but they're not that willing to do it. I might have to just buy them and to half-and-half to see how they turn out. The plus side is that they'll definitely be warmer than 6500k, but I worry the ones with 2x 3000k chips might be too yellow...

The beam pattern looks awesome. I browse from Amazon and find that there're many kinds of LED kits, some with fans some as the kits you post, don't know how to choose.

Look at the pictures I posted in the first few posts of page 1. The BPS ones I have are also sold under different names but they are the same product, just rebranded. Find a set on Amazon by typing something like "H11 LED ZES Luxeon" or any combination of those search words, and look for ones that look identical.

Might make a for good foglight replacement though, in the proper bulb type.

A bit of an update on the H11 LED's I put in from carlightingsource.com Put them in and ran them for a day. The beam pattern was horrible. I took them out and put in my previous H11 Phillips(fog lights) and will continue to run them. They have a great pattern and are brighter than stock halogens and coupled with my Sylvania ZEVO LED fogs....the light output is acceptable by me and I don't get any flashing from oncoming drivers at night.
